Itho Daalderop, a Dutch manufacturer of indoor climate systems, has chosen to equip its production line with Industrial IoT services provided by innius. This industrial software platform supports the digital transformation with real-time, smart data and apps.

The innius software platform, enables remote monitoring of machines. Maintenance can be based on greater insight and is easier to predict. Real-time production data, advanced data analysis and interactive reports maximize production line efficiency and quality, there are fewer machine stoppages and maintenance costs are reduced.

Make to order
Choosing to adopt innius suits Itho Daalderop’s innovative character well, in both product development and production technology. A recent shift in the company’s business model has been that Itho Daalderop increasingly remains the product owner and offers products as part of a service. This requires a product quality guarantee for the next 25 years. A cost reduction strategy has also been implemented whereby the production line has moved from a ‘Make to stock’ process to a ‘Make to order’ process.

Kerst Algera, Director of Operations at Itho Daalderop

Kerst Algera, Director of Operations: “Stepping over from produce to stock to produce to order is quite a big operation. You need to be able to be 100% sure that you can always keep producing. So, the up-time of the entire plant has become much more important. That’s where innius helps, because we can preventatively see what has gone wrong with machines.”

New and existing machines
The mix of old and new machines on Itho Daalderop’s factory floor is testament to a rich history. Yet by installing an eWON Flexy modem into a machine’s PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), even these older machines can easily be connected to the Industrial IoT. Algera: “The most important thing for us with innius, is that we are able to take an existing factory and bring it to Industry 4.0 level. Because connecting old machines is not possible in many other solutions, but with innius this has become possible.”

innius: beyond the hype
John Rijksen, Managing Director at innius, “There is currently a lot of hype in the manufacturing sector about Industrial-IoT and Industry 4.0. With Itho Daalderop, we’ve got a great reference as to how Industrial-IoT can be applied in very practical terms to existing machinery, and the impact innius has upon their business model.”

Columbus strengthened its pipeline in the first quarter of 2026 despite the soft market situation, leaving the company well positioned for increased activity through the year. “The first quarter was characterised by a cautious start, but activity levels improved gradually throughout the quarter, and we strengthened both our pipeline and order intake with several larger project wins. This puts us in a stronger position to convert gradually improving demand into profitable growth in Q2,” says CEO & President Søren Krogh Knudsen. Market activity remains soft Revenue in Q1 2026 was DKK 418m (Q1 2025: DKK 434m), representing a decrease of 4%, primarily driven by lower activity in Denmark and Sweden, partly offset by growth in Norway and the US. EBITDA amounted to DKK 26m (Q1 2025: DKK 46m), corresponding to an EBITDA margin of 6.3% (Q1 2025: 10.7%), reflecting the lower activity level, partly offset by continued cost discipline and a focus on profitable engagements.
