Micro Matic has acquired the Croatian company Oprema, which develops and produces units for cooling in the beverage industry. With the acquisition, Micro Matic strengthens its competences in the refrigeration area and will in the future be able to develop and offer complete dispending solutions in close collaboration with customers. This will help fulfil Micro Matic’s ambitions to expand globally.

"Oprema is a company that fits very well into Micro Matic's core business because their strong competencies in cooling equipment complement Micro Matic's products perfectly. This supports our strategic ambitions to be able to develop and offer complete solutions - what we call 'keg to glass' - to our customers, because we are now adding strong competences in the cooling area," says Lars Gjødsbøl, Group CEO, Micro Matic, and adds:

"We have ambitions to expand our core business, grow internationally, and master the most advanced solutions and technologies in our industry. With the acquisition of Oprema, we gain some strong technical competences in cooling equipment, which we can use to develop cooling productions close to the customers. In this way, we can strengthen our market position globally, grow Micro Matic, and bring Oprema's products even further out into the world."

Just like Micro Matic, Oprema is a family-owned company that is the European market leader in cooling equipment and has its headquarters as well as modern production facilities in Ludbreg, Croatia. The company was established in 1948 and has been owned by the Cvetko family since 1992.

Therefore, it is with equal parts pride and sadness that the company's CEO sells the family's life's work to Micro Matic, but Domagoj Cvetko, who continues as CEO, has no doubt that the Danish-based industrial group is the right buyer.

"It's obviously emotional for me to pass on the family business, but I couldn't imagine a better company to sell to than Micro Matic. We share the same values, and we have the same ambitions. At the same time, I am extremely proud that we have developed Oprema into a company that a respected group like Micro Matic has taken notice of," says Domagoj Cvetko, CEO, Oprema, and adds:

"I'm really looking forward to the next part of the journey and to Oprema's products becoming known around the world. We bring cooling expertise to Micro Matic, while they give us access to the world."

The agreement between Micro Matic and Oprema was finalized on 8 April.
