Welcome back to AC Hotel Bella Sky and Copenhagen – the safest city in the world
Denmark lifted the remaining restrictions mid-September, and the country is basically back to normal after one and a half year with two major lock-downs and other corona related measures.
Almost simultaneously with Denmark returning to normal conditions, the fourth edition of The Economist Intelligence Unit’s the Safe Cities Index was released. Copenhagen came out as the number one safest city in the world out of 60 cities worldwide and focus is on five pillars: personal, health, infrastructure, digital and environmental security.
“Even though we welcome many Danish guests, we are still dependent on tourists from abroad and the major international events that Copenhagen usually hosts. With the re-opening of AC Hotel Bella Sky, we mark that we are through the crisis and looking ahead. Furthermore, the fact that Copenhagen is ranked as the safest city in the world is simply perfect timing and almost symbolic” says Martin Åkesson, General Manager of Copenhagen Marriott and AC Hotel Bella Sky.
After one and a half year, the buildings are basically reset. Everything must be checked thoroughly from elevators, electricity to remote controls, lightning, and TV signal just to mention a few examples. It takes a few months to prepare everything bringing the hotel with the 811 rooms back to the high and well-known standard.
"It is close to unnatural to keep a hotel closed. When the towers were completed ten years ago, no one expected the dramatic period we have all been through. A hotel is characterized with activity around the clock, and it will absolutely be fantastic lightning up the hotel again and last but not least mark the hotel’s 10 years anniversary,” concludes Martin Åkesson, General Manager of Copenhagen Marriott and Hotel Bella Sky.
