Today, STARK Group announced its sustainability results for the financial year 2020/21. Covering the corporate sustainability efforts in 2020/21, the report outlines a comprehensive review of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, the Group’s commitment to net zero, and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact.

In 2020/21, STARK Group made significant efforts to support and accelerate the green transition in the construction industry. In April 2021, The Group committed to the Science Based Targets initiative and to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.

STARK Group reduced its carbon emissions from own operations by 31% during 2020/21 from a 2020 baseline. The reduction was primarily driven by electricity actively sourced as renewable, improved efficiency lighting, heating and ventilation systems, as well as initiating low carbon distribution with fossil-free diesel and a continued transition from fossil to electric forklift trucks. The Group works towards having 100% renewable electricity at all branches and distribution centres by 2030 and have a long-term ambition that its renewable electricity consumption ensures additionality.

“Our commitment to investing in sustainability has never been firmer, and our pipeline of initiatives has never been broader. Despite a challenging year, we have managed to intensify our efforts towards building a more sustainable tomorrow. I am pleased to report a strong, sustainable performance on almost every target, most significant a 31% carbon reduction one year into our target period,” says Søren P. Olesen, CEO of STARK Group and continues

“Our customers, investors, and other stakeholders demand that we operate responsibly and that we are clear and transparent in our work with sustainability. In 2021, our work with sustainability was awarded a top rating by EcoVadis: A rating that I am extremely proud of, as it is a testament to our dedication and a recognition of our way of working with sustainability.”
