AI transformation leader Magnus Oxenwaldt launches AI Don’t Fix Stupidity, a practical and provocative book to building AI-first organisations.
AI will not fix a broken strategy, inefficient processes, poor data or a culture resistant to change. In fact, it may simply help those problems scale faster.
That is the central message of AI Don’t Fix Stupidity, a new book by AI transformation leader and Columbus VP Group AI Magnus Oxenwaldt. Combining a compelling business fable with a practical implementation playbook, the book challenges business leaders to look beyond the question of whether they should use AI and instead ask what their organisations need to become when intelligence is suddenly abundant.
“The organisations that will get the most from AI are not necessarily the ones with the most advanced technology. They are the ones willing to fundamentally rethink how work gets done, how decisions are made and where humans create value,” says Magnus Oxenwaldt. “AI can amplify what is already there; the good and the bad. That is why becoming AI-first is ultimately a leadership and organisational challenge, not a technology project.”
As businesses race to adopt generative AI, AI agents and increasingly autonomous technologies, Oxenwaldt argues that technology alone will not deliver transformation. Organisations must first address the foundations on which AI depends. A clear strategy, effective governance, reliable data, efficient processes and a culture capable of adapting to fundamental change.
For organisations prepared to rethink how they operate, however, AI represents an opportunity on a scale not seen since the emergence of the internet.
In AI Don’t Fix Stupidity, Oxenwaldt provides leaders with a practical roadmap for navigating that transformation — from strategy and governance to architecture, deployment, adoption and measurement. The book also tackles some of the most difficult questions facing executives, including how organisations can transform without losing their people and how humans and AI can work together to create greater value.
“This is not a book about technology,” says Oxenwaldt. “It is about leadership, organisational transformation, and building companies that can thrive in the AI era.”
With a deliberately clear and honest approach, AI Don’t Fix Stupidity moves beyond the hype surrounding AI to focus on what organisations actually need to change if they want to become AI-first.
The book’s central argument is simple: the companies that succeed in the AI era will not simply adopt AI. They will become AI-first.
