From 13:00 to 15:00, children, families, seniors, and cycling enthusiasts can ride the closed 10 km route through the city, just hours before the professional riders sprint on the very same roads. The event starts at the finish line by the National Gallery of Denmark.

The public ride celebrates Copenhagen’s strong cycling culture and invites everyone to be part of the atmosphere surrounding Copenhagen Sprint. Along the route, participants can hop on and off at eight designated points, while music, activities, and a festive finish area at Østerport will add to the celebration.

“I am really looking forward to getting on my bike and experiencing the car-free route through Copenhagen. I hope many Copenhageners and visitors will join us – it is not every day you get the chance to cycle through the city without cars on the road,” says Sisse Marie Welling, Lord Mayor of Copenhagen.

Kenneth Øhrberg Krag, CEO of the Danish Cyclists’ Federation, adds:

“For the Danish Cyclists’ Federation, the public ride is a celebration on two wheels – a tribute to the Copenhagen and Danish cycling culture, which is truly unique in an international context. Last year’s ride through a sunny, car-free Copenhagen was magical for both children and adults, and we hope to recreate that experience this year.”

The public cycling event is free and open to everyone. It is part of Copenhagen Sprint and is organised by a national partnership consisting of the City of Copenhagen, the Municipality of Roskilde, the Danish Government, the Danish Cycling Federation, Sport Event Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen, and the Copenhagen Sprint event company.
