Denmark and Finland are strengthening their cooperation on civil preparedness and resilience

Denmark and Finland will enhance their cooperation on civil preparedness and resilience. Today, the Danish Minister of Resilience and Preparedness Torsten Schack Pedersen, and the Finnish Minister of the Interior, Mari Rantanen, have signed a Letter of Intent on civil preparedness and resilience.

The letter aims to enhance cooperation in a number of areas. There is a particular focus on civil preparedness and rescue services, hybrid threats to critical infrastructure, and support to Ukraine.

Minister of Resilience and Preparedness, Torsten Schack Pedersen, says:

"A closer cooperation with Finland is very important to Denmark, and therefore I am very pleased that we have signed a Letter of Intent to enhance our collaboration on resilience and preparedness. Finland is showing the way when it comes to civil protection and societal resilience. That is a great inspiration to us in our endeavors to strengthen the resilience of our society. Furthermore, I am very pleased that we have agreed to cooperate closely on protecting critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.”

Minister of the Interior of Finland, Mari Rantanen, says:

"In the current geopolitical situation, we must be ready and prepared to prevent and respond to crises, conflicts, and even the most serious scenarios, such as war. The cooperation between Finland and Denmark supports other Nordic, EU, and NATO-level cooperation."

The Letter of Intent has been signed during the Danish state visit to Finland.
