STARK Group launches recycled bricks to promote circularity in construction
STARK Group is taking yet another step toward improving resource efficiency and circular economy practices, with STARK in Denmark introducing recycled bricks in all its branches. This initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint of future building projects and support the green transition.

Reusing existing construction materials plays a role in the green transition within the construction industry, where building materials account for 11% of the total global industrial carbon emissions. Bricks, in particular, have significant recycling potential as the climate footprint of ten recycled bricks is equivalent to that of one new brick.
CEO of STARK Danmark, Britta Korre Stenholt says:
“We want to make it easy and natural to choose recycled building materials instead of new ones so we can collectively reduce the climate impact of construction. Bricks are among the most climate-impacting materials, which makes us proud now to offer recycled bricks for the buildings of tomorrow.”
In addition to recycled bricks, STARK Group is driving different initiatives to promote circularity across its markets. The REWOOD take-back solution, active in Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, repurposes temporary or unused wood and plywood from construction sites as a circular alternative to new materials.
In Denmark, STARK has also launched the GENPAP project, which transforms used cardboard boxes into material for packaging. These efforts are part of the Group's broader commitment to reducing waste and advancing circular practices in the construction industry.
With tightened legal requirements in building regulations set to take effect on 1 July 2025, STARK Group anticipates a growing demand for recycled building materials, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the construction industry.
