STARK Group launches digital climate tool for environmental reporting in Sweden

Share

STARK Group’s company, Beijer Byggmaterial, is launching a new digital climate tool for environmental reporting. With the tool, the Swedish market leader gives customers an overview of a product's climate impact, making it easier for customers and advisors in the construction industry to choose materials with less climate impact and to make climate calculations.

The tool provides data on the total carbon emissions of the amount of a product or products that a customer has in its digital shopping basket, as well as the percentage of recycled material, making it easier for customers to make more climate-smart purchases.

CEO at Beijer Byggmaterial, Geir Thomas Fossum, says:

We know that this is very popular among our customers, and we have placed great emphasis on creating a tool that is as simple, precise and effective as possible. Sustainability is a central part of our strategy, and we are extremely proud that we are helping to drive this development forward.”

Requirements for reporting climate footprints are increasing rapidly. Many small and mid-sized companies in the construction industry have challenges providing the necessary information. The climate tool is part of an investment in making life easier for tradespeople.

STARK Group works to reduce carbon emissions by reducing its own emissions and by helping manufacturers of building materials, builders, construction consultants and tradespeople to produce and select building materials with fewer emissions. In 2021, STARK Group committed to Science Based Targets initiative and established a clear commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2050 across the entire business. The company works within fully 2030-validated science-based targets to keep global warming below 1.5°C and is a signatory to the UN Global Compact.
