Media invitation: Experience the 110-metre tall offshore wind turbines off Lolland in Denmark up close when Ørsted celebrates Nysted's 20th birthday and invites the media on a tour of Nysted Offshore Wind Farm on Monday, 4 September 2023
Visionary policymakers and a bold industry have worked together to develop offshore wind into a technology that has become financially competitive in just 20 years and an almost global tool for combatting climate change.

This year, we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of the construction of Nysted Offshore Wind Farm. To mark the anniversary, we're inviting the media for a cruise of the offshore wind farm on Monday, 4 September. Thomas Almegaard, Head of Operations for Nysted Offshore Wind Farm, will tell us about Nysted Offshore Wind Farm and give an insight into the practical work being done to ensure that the wind farm produces as much renewable energy as possible. He’ll also elaborate on Nysted’s impact on the development of offshore wind – both in Denmark and globally.
Nysted Offshore Wind Farm is located in the Baltic Sea, 10 km south of the Danish town Nysted, which is situated on Lolland. It was built by Ørsted in 2002-2003. The wind farm was the largest offshore wind farm in the world from 2003 to 2009, and with a total capacity of 165.6 MW, it provides renewable electricity to more than 140,000 Danish households annually.
