Sydkoreas præsident Moon Jae-in aflagde den 19.-20. oktober 2018 et officielt besøg i Danmark. Under besøget var præsidenten i audiens hos H.M. Dronningen, deltog i P4G-topmødet og mødtes bilateralt med statsministeren.

Det bilaterale møde bekræftede de stærke samarbejdsrelationer, og var desuden en anledning til at se fremad mod 2019 hvor 60-året for etableringen af diplomatiske relationer mellem Danmark og Sydkorea markeres. 

I forlængelse af mødet udsendes følgende Joint Press Statement, hvoraf følgende bl.a. kan fremhæves: Det Strategiske Partnerskab, hvor Danmark og Sydkorea samarbejder på tværs af forskellige sektorer såsom fødevarer, innovation og kultur, det øgede økonomiske samarbejde og den fortsatte vilje til også fremadrettet at prioritere den grønne omstilling, herunder gennem samarbejdsaftaler om cirkulær økonomi og vedvarende energi. At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, H.E. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, paid an official visit to Denmark on 19-20 October 2018.
During the visit the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in held talks with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen and was received in private audience by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.
The President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in also joined other Heads of State and Government at the first ever Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit hosted by Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

1. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen acknowledged the strong and comprehensive bilateral relationship between Denmark and the Republic of Korea. They agreed that the cooperation has never been as close, diverse and fruitful as it is today.

2. The relationship had developed significantly since the launch of the Strategic Partnership in 2011 and the adoption of the joint action plan (2016-2019) in 2016. Both parties agreed to further develop the close cooperation between Korea and Denmark based on the common values and priorities of the two countries with the aim of strengthening and expanding the Strategic Partnership.

3. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen appreciated that the Strategic Partnership has strengthened the political and economic ties between Korea and Denmark. Cooperation has expanded within a number of sectors and areas, not least energy, food and agriculture, life science, maritime affairs including cooperation on green ships, research, innovation, security policy and culture. Furthermore, the Green Growth Alliance between Korea and Denmark remains an important vehicle for cooperation in promoting the joint vision of addressing climate change and achieving the sustainable development goals. Stepping up the Danish and Korean cooperation within P4G and GGGI, will facilitate the efforts of the international community to address global issues.

President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen welcomed an increase in cooperation within digitalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4iR), where increased dialogue and cooperation will contribute to preparing our labour market, education and societies for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen further highlighted the positive development in the bilateral cooperation on life science, and agreed to further strengthen the partnership on pharma/bio tech, digital health and welfare.

5. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen highlighted that they were looking forward to celebrating the 60-year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Korea in 2019. The year would be a designated Cultural Year in both countries serving as a testament to the importance of the partnership and its to-people contacts.

6. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen expressed satisfaction with the fast-growing economic relations between Denmark and Korea. The two leaders reaffirmed their determination to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment promotion. Both sides underlined the importance of promoting free, fair and rules-based trade and protecting WTO and the multilateral trade system in light of rising trade protectionism, which poses a threat to sustained economic growth.

7. President Moon commended the Government of Denmark on the success of the P4G Summit and on its strong commitment to realizing the potential of the P4G initiative. The two leaders underlined the importance and value of public-private partnerships working towards a global transition to green economy. They acknowledged the significant steps taken under the P4G Summit and committed to working actively together to encourage countries, institutions and the private sector to develop and spread tangible solutions to realize the ambitions set out in the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

8. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen agreed to continue to further deepen the cooperation within renewable energy and the green transition by including new areas of cooperation such as the circular economy and new energy industry. An MOU on cooperation in the field of circular economy between Korea and Denmark was signed during President Moon’s visit to Denmark. Furthermore, another MOU on renewable energy and new energy industry will be signed during the upcoming 8th meeting of the Green Growth Alliance, which will be hosted by Korea in the beginning of November.

9. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen expressed satisfaction at their close and strong partnership on Arctic Affairs, in which Korea is an important partner within economic cooperation, science, research and development. As a testament to this, a new MOU within arctic research and autonomous infrastructure including drones was signed on the occasion of the visit.

10. Prime Minister Rasmussen welcomed and expressed full support for the diplomatic initiatives undertaken by President Moon through the three inter-Korean Summits to
advance inter-Korean relations and achieve complete denuclearization and work towards permanent peace in the Korean Peninsula. President Moon highly appreciated Denmark’s consistent support for and contribution to the process of peacefully resolving the North Korean nuclear issue and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula. The two leaders shared the view that the denuclearization must be achieved in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.

11. President Moon and Prime Minister Rasmussen also discussed the current situation in Europe. Both parties underlined the importance of strong international partnerships to handle pressing global challenges and to promote joint political ambitions for continued global growth, peace and stability.
