TomTom And Renault Ship One Million Carminat TomTom In-Dash Navigation Systems

TomTom and Renault today announce they have shipped one million Carminat TomTom in-dash navigation systems since its launch in May 2009. This marks a major industry milestone backed up by unprecedented take up rates.

Renault’s launching of the first Carminat TomTom in May 2009 represented the first step in the democratisation of high quality in-dash navigation by making it accessible to the mid and entry-level car models. Since then the Carminat TomTom has enjoyed unparalleled take up rates of 48%, triple the industry average.

TomTom continues to improve the navigation experience of Renault customers. In the six months after introduction the TomTom Carminat was strengthened with the addition of IQ Routes, TomTom’s advanced routing technology, and late last year we added real time services like HD Traffic.

December		Carminat TomTom is now available in the utility vehicle Kangoo
2010
October		Carminat TomTom LIVE is announced during Paris Motor Show, available first on Latitude, Espace IV Phase 2 and Laguna III Phase 2
		Carminat TomTom available in utility vehicles Master & Trafic
2011
January		Carminat TomTom is replaced by Carminat TomTom LIVE
March		150,000 connected Carminat TomTom LIVE have been produced
June		A total of 1,000,000 cars have been equipped with Carminat TomTom or Carminat TomTom LIVE, across 20 different models
