In 2022 he was appointed President of the Americas Region. This decision follows the mandatory annual review of the amortization period of intangible assets as required by International Accounting Standard number 38 in IFRS (IAS 38). The change in useful lives for these two categories will result in an additional amortization expense of approximately EUR 1.1 billion in the Group’s consolidated financial statements for the full year 2024. On July 5, 2024, WS Audiology identified an IT security incident involving unauthorized access to the local retail IT system of our Bloomhearing stores in Australia and New Zealand, which also included some data related to our retail operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. We want to reassure our customers and stakeholders that no other WS Audiology systems were affected, and business operations are running as usual across all regions. The unauthorized access temporarily affected operations in some of the impacted markets. However, our incident response team acted swiftly to contain the incident and restore systems shortly after the unauthorized access was discovered. Unfortunately, the threat actors had temporary access to personal data including that of hearing aid patients and employees.
