We invite you to two engaging events examining the phenomena of national identity, consolidation, and statehood taking Ukraine as a case study.

Copenhagen, October 2024 – On October 29, 2024, Ukraine House in Denmark will host the panel discussion "Harvesting Stability: Ukraine’s Role in Global Security," a pivotal event in the Heart of Earth exhibition series. This event will explore the ecological and economic impacts of Russia’s aggression on Ukraine’s agricultural sector and address Ukraine’s critical role in global food security.

Ukraine House in Denmark, in partnership with Humanity in Action and the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter, is pleased to announce a special event, “Shared Histories: Ukrainian-Jewish and Danish-Jewish Relations Through Time,” on October 23, 2024. This unique event will explore the interconnected histories of Ukrainian-Jewish and Danish-Jewish communities, offering an in-depth discussion of their experiences, particularly during World War II, and the lessons that can inform today's global challenges.

On September 12, UN City Copenhagen hosted a screening of “Big Water”, a powerful documentary by The Reckoning Project: Ukraine Testifies. The film explores the grave consequences of Russia's destruction of the Kakhovka Dam and the resulting ecological disaster in Ukraine.

The Ukraine House in Denmark is proud to present a captivating performance by Pyrih i Batih, a musical project that breathes new life into Ukrainian poetry. On August 23, 2024, as part of the celebration marking the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's restored independence, Pyrih i Batih will provide a live musical accompaniment to Olexandr Dovzhenko's classic silent film "The Earth" (1930). The event is taking place as part of the opening of the “Heart of the Earth” exhibition. The event will take place at Vor Frelsers Kirke, Sankt Annæ Gade 29, Copenhagen, starting at 17:00.

The highly anticipated ‘Heart of Earth’ exhibition, one of Ukraine’s most significant wartime cultural projects, will be unveiled in Copenhagen, Ukraine House in Denmark, on August 23 in the context of 33rd Ukraine’s Independence celebrations. Copenhagen, Denmark - On Tuesday, May 28th, Ukraine House in Denmark hosted a compelling discussion with Yevheniia Kravchuk, Ukrainian MP, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Humanitarian and Informational Policy in the Ukrainian Parliament, and author of the PACE resolution on cultural erasure during the war. The discussion addressed the challenges and opportunities of safeguarding culture amidst the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Key points articulated by Yevheniya Kravchuk include: Cultural and Physical Destruction: Russia's objective extends beyond physical annihilation of Ukrainians to encompass the obliteration of their identity. For the third consecutive time, Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Alliance of Democracies is bringing the perspective of Ukrainian art and culture to the global audience of the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. This year we are creating an installation to showcase a participatory art project with a crucial message by the renowned Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova. The project is Russian Rocket 2022. It entails stickers picturing russian ballistic missiles can be placed on public transport windows, creating the illusion of rockets flying over peaceful cities. People are encouraged to shoot videos and photos of the Russian Rocket 2022 and send them to the dedicated Instagram page. The project aims to share the experience of Ukrainians living under the constant threat of missile attacks and to remind the world that if not stopped in Ukraine, the nightmare of russian aggression could become a reality in other countries. Copenhagen, Denmark - On Friday, April 26th, Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Danish Institute for International Studies and the Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark hosted a forum that brought together experts on disinformation and decolonisation from Denmark, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia, and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria to delve into the critical issues surrounding Russian colonialism and its impact on international relations today. Together with KOLO Nordic and Frihed for Ukraine, we invite you to a meeting with several soldiers from one of the most remarkable Ukrainian units, the Da Vinci Wolves Battalion, on 23.04.2024, 17:00 at the Ukraine House in Denmark. The battalion is known for their courage and fearless defense of Ukraine during the full-scale invasion, markedly during the Kharkiv counteroffensive. The soldiers that will be visiting are Serhii Filimonov, Alina Mykhailova, Andriy Pysarenko, Olexandr Yabchanka, and Oleksi Makhrynsky.

Dear Friend of the Ukraine House, In 2024, we still witness the consequences of imperial ambitions and the legacy of colonialism affecting international relations in Europe and threatening European security. The full-scale Russian war of aggression against Ukraine showed the real danger of ignoring the voices of the colonised, repressed and persecuted, and regarding only the former empire as a worthwhile stakeholder in international relations. What would the world have looked like if Russia wasn’t received with impunity after it launched its brutal wars of recolonisation against Ichkeria, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine? Perhaps currently we would not be facing the largest war in Europe since the Second World War.

Earlier in spring, the Ukraine House in Denmark hosted an evening of new Ukrainian poetry and music with poet and translator Yuliya Musakovska arriving from Ukraine and the Copenhagen-based Ukrainian musician Sofia Shvager. The evening began with the presentation of Yuliya’s latest poetry collection “The God of Freedom” (2021). On the solemn occasion of the second anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Ukraine House in Denmark, together with Goethe Institute, Danish Culture Institute, and Mungo Park proudly presented "Voices of Dignity: Poetry and Music from Ukraine", a Danish-Ukrainian dialogue showcasing the resilience and creativity of Ukrainian writers. The event marked the first-ever performance during which Ukrainian writers shared their powerful work to articulate the inexpressible suffering of the Ukrainian nation during the war, and renowned Danish actors amplified their voices, demonstrating a profound cultural exchange between Ukraine and Denmark.
