Copenhagen, Denmark - On Tuesday, May 28th, Ukraine House in Denmark hosted a compelling discussion with Yevheniia Kravchuk, Ukrainian MP, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Humanitarian and Informational Policy in the Ukrainian Parliament, and author of the PACE resolution on cultural erasure during the war. The discussion addressed the challenges and opportunities of safeguarding culture amidst the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Key points articulated by Yevheniya Kravchuk include: Cultural and Physical Destruction: Russia's objective extends beyond physical annihilation of Ukrainians to encompass the obliteration of their identity. This is starkly illustrated by the destruction of language and cultural heritage, including UNESCO sites and heritage significant to specific regions, villages, or families. For the third consecutive time, Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Alliance of Democracies is bringing the perspective of Ukrainian art and culture to the global audience of the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. This year we are creating an installation to showcase a participatory art project with a crucial message by the renowned Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova. The project is Russian Rocket 2022. It entails stickers picturing russian ballistic missiles can be placed on public transport windows, creating the illusion of rockets flying over peaceful cities. People are encouraged to shoot videos and photos of the Russian Rocket 2022 and send them to the dedicated Instagram page. The project aims to share the experience of Ukrainians living under the constant threat of missile attacks and to remind the world that if not stopped in Ukraine, the nightmare of russian aggression could become a reality in other countries. Copenhagen, Denmark - On Friday, April 26th, Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Danish Institute for International Studies and the Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark hosted a forum that brought together experts on disinformation and decolonisation from Denmark, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia, and the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria to delve into the critical issues surrounding Russian colonialism and its impact on international relations today. The battalion is known for their courage and fearless defense of Ukraine during the full-scale invasion, markedly during the Kharkiv counteroffensive. Dear Friend of the Ukraine House, In 2024, we still witness the consequences of imperial ambitions and the legacy of colonialism affecting international relations in Europe and threatening European security. The full-scale Russian war of aggression against Ukraine showed the real danger of ignoring the voices of the colonised, repressed and persecuted, and regarding only the former empire as a worthwhile stakeholder in international relations. What would the world have looked like if Russia wasn’t received with impunity after it launched its brutal wars of recolonisation against Ichkeria, Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine? Perhaps currently we would not be facing the largest war in Europe since the Second World War.

Earlier in spring, the Ukraine House in Denmark hosted an evening of new Ukrainian poetry and music with poet and translator Yuliya Musakovska arriving from Ukraine and the Copenhagen-based Ukrainian musician Sofia Shvager. The evening began with the presentation of Yuliya’s latest poetry collection “The God of Freedom” (2021). On the solemn occasion of the second anniversary of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Ukraine House in Denmark, together with Goethe Institute, Danish Culture Institute, and Mungo Park proudly presented "Voices of Dignity: Poetry and Music from Ukraine", a Danish-Ukrainian dialogue showcasing the resilience and creativity of Ukrainian writers. The event marked the first-ever performance during which Ukrainian writers shared their powerful work to articulate the inexpressible suffering of the Ukrainian nation during the war, and renowned Danish actors amplified their voices, demonstrating a profound cultural exchange between Ukraine and Denmark.

Ukraine House in Denmark invites you in collaboration with the Goethe Institute Denmark, Mungo Park and the Danish Cultural Institute to the special event "Voices of Dignity: poetry and music from Ukraine" on February 24 at 3:30 p.m. The event marks the second anniversary of Russia's all-out war against Ukraine and serves as an international declaration of solidarity for continued support for Ukraine, including the country's arts and culture sector. The event offers, among other things, on readings by recognized Ukrainian authors, whose texts are subsequently read aloud by, among others, Ghita Nørby, Sofie Gråbøl and Claes Bang.

February 7, 2024 - Ukraine House in Denmark is proud to present the inaugural exhibition of the Mykolaiv School of conceptual and art photography (MYPH) in Denmark - “Shared Body: Mykolaiv Young Photography” - to open on February 24th. Founded in 2018 in Mykolaiv by a local photo prodigy Sergey Melnitchenko, the school and the collective of young Ukrainian photographers formed on its basis quickly became one of the most dynamic, compelling and prolific phenomena in contemporary Ukrainian culture.

Executions, torture of prisoners, forced deportation of children, obstruction of evacuation, shelling of civilians, hospitals, and infrastructure... During the 20 months of the invasion the army of the Russian Federation committed almost all types of crimes mentioned in the Geneva Conventions. The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine has opened nearly 110,000 proceedings related to war crimes. Ukraine demands the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression, which it calls ‘the mother of all crimes’.

Dr. Ivan Horodyskyy, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Bar Association, appealed to the Danish parliament with a сordial request to make every effort to establish justice for the victims of the Holodomor by recognizing it as genocide. The expert spoke during the commemorative event “Holodomor – 90: impact on Ukraine and the future of justice” held at Ukraine House in Denmark on Nov. 25.

As we approach the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor and the December hearings in the Danish Parliament regarding the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide, yesterday, our public initiative group met with the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs to advocate for acknowledgement and justice. We've initiated a symbolic gesture—Danish parliamentarians are now in possession of the artistically displayed bouquets of the five stalks of wheat, reminding them of the sinister Soviet Decree of 5 Stalks of Wheat. This law was one in a series of resolutions that enabled the deliberate killing by starvation of a minimum 4 million of Ukrainians in 1932-1933. We are joined by the leaders of Ukrainian organizations within the Association of Ukrainians in Denmark and the Ukrainian faith-based organizations in an appeal to the Danish Folketing to join the 36 nations and organizations and recognize Holodomor as the genocide of Ukrainian people.
