valde new North captain, JUGi joins the ranks
Today North’s CS:GO division promote Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså as new team captain and in-game leader. At the same time, the team bid farewell to Casper “cadiaN” Møller who is moving on in his career.
- We have looked inwards in order to rethink our approach to the game. Valde has been eminent at helping out with making decisions during games and he is a natural born leader. We have seen his abilities as a leader, he is ready and he has chosen to take over as captain for the team, says first team coach, Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg.
The new team captain is ready to take up the task and reflects on his new role:
- I feel that the time has come for me to take on extra responsibilities within the team. Becoming an in-game leader and team captain is not a decision you make overnight. It's something I've thought about many, many times during my career and I knew within myself that the day where I would make that transition was gonna come at one point but I certainly didn't see it coming this early, says Valdemar “valde” Vangså who will be featured in an interview later today, where he elaborates on the new situation.
- I cannot promise you miracle-results overnight and there will definitely be bumps along the road, but what I can promise you is someone who's willing to sacrifice what it takes to bring his team to the top. I really believe that my vision and leadership will take us there. I hope you guys will follow me on this journey. It would mean a lot to me, says Valdemar “valde” Vangså.
North welcome AWP talent Jacob “JUGi” Hansen who will join the team ahead of the preparation for ESL One Closed Qualifier, Pro League and Dreamhack Masters Dallas.
- JUGi is a great talent and I am convinced that he will do great within our ranks. Having worked with Jakob before, I know what he is capable of, and I am sure that he will shine with the new tactical structure that we are creating. Also valde and Jakob has played together back in Heroic which is an advantage for sure, says Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg.
- I am very excited about the future in North with this change in leadership and the separation of the in-game leader and AWP. We want to thank Casper for what he has done for North and bid him good luck further. I’m convinced, Casper will find a new home soon, says Director of Esports, Jonas “whimp” Svendsen.
- Despite a hard fight, we didn't manage to secure the goals that we wanted. I will look back at my time in North, with a lot of memories, some good, and some bad - but nevertheless, it's been part of a journey, which I'm looking forward to continue at a different place. I want to wish all of North staff, and players the best of luck for the future, says Casper “cadiaN” Møller.
North’s next tournament will be the ESL One Cologne, Closed Qualifier followed by the ESL Pro League Round 2 matches in Leicester.
