STARK Group announces its third-largest acquisition in Germany
Today, STARK Deutschland is a leading retailer and distributor of heavy building materials to the professional craftsmen. Through its 12 brands, the German company serves more than 110,000 customers from its 260 builders’ merchants and distribution centres.
The acquisition of the family-owned Tröger & Entenmann Group is an impetus to STARK Group’s strategy to achieve economies of scale within retail and distribution of heavy building materials and to build a strong business in specialist areas that expand the Group’s customer base.
The Tröger & Entenmann Group will operate under STARK Deutschland’s brand Muffenrohr Tiefbauhandel and will further strengthen Muffenrohr’s presence and position in South and East Germany with an additional 11 branches in the fast-growing specialist civil engineering segment.
“Tröger & Entenmann Group and STARK Group is a great match, and I am very pleased to welcome 170 new colleagues in Germany to the STARK Group family. I am grateful that a strong, family-owned company sees STARK Group as a good owner. We wish to operate and develop our existing and new companies in a way that creates value for both employees and craftsmen,” says Søren P. Olesen, CEO of STARK Group.
STARK Group established its German business in 2019 with the acquisition of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution Germany (SGBDD). Since then, STARK Group has completed the acquisition of the roofing and facade specialist, Melle Gallhöfer, and now Tröger & Entenmann Group, both of which support the Group's sub-strategy of becoming a strong player within specialist areas.
The acquisition of Tröger & Entenmann Group is subject to necessary authority clearances, expected in the second quarter of 2022. The parties have chosen not to disclose the terms and price of the transaction.
