Shenzhen is the benchmark city for China’s foreign exchange, as well as a city full of vitality and charm. According to Executive Secretary General Li Dan, the Foundation undertakes the mission of establishing a global cooperation network for Shenzhen and promoting the city’s international development. The contest aims to collect a wide range of videos that show the charm and the growth trajectory of Shenzhen, allowing young people to explore the changes of Shenzhen from an individual perspective, discuss the past, present and future of Shenzhen.
The contest was jointly organized by 10 local universities, including Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen, College of International Studies Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Technology University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and was supported by various overseas institutions in Europe and Asia.
Chinese students from Shenzhen Technology University and their teachers from Germany, Malaysia and the UK worked together on the project to depict the inclusive and integrated characteristics of Shenzhen, fully demonstrating the international aspect of Shenzhen with their multinational team and video content. Piotr Blaszak, a Polish key opinion leader (KOL) living in Shenzhen after graduation, filmed his favorite urban views in Shenzhen. The students of Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute, Tianjin University filmed rowing competition with their peers and their efforts to promote environmental protection. The students of Shenzhen University focused on the Chinese lion dance to describe how young people innovate by combining traditional culture with fashion trends.
The panel of judges of this contest consists of experts from universities, art troupes and media outlets, who have a broad perspective and a high level of professionalism. According to the judges, with the theme of youth, the contest highlighted the urban characteristics of Shenzhen and aroused the enthusiasm of young people from many countries around the world.
Founded in December 2014, Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation is one of the first non-public foundations in China aiming to promote international exchange and cooperation and facilitate the internationalization of a city.
