SEPTEMBER 18, 2018 – DENVER, CO –  A new report by Forbes Insights finds 81 percent of respondents agree on the critical importance of agility when it comes to leading a successful organization. The report, “The Elusive Agile Enterprise,” was sponsored by Scrum Alliance, a Scrum certifying body and the largest professional association of Agile practitioners worldwide.

In preparing the report, the Forbes Insights team surveyed more than 1,000 C-level executives worldwide, and also conducted one-on-one interviews with leaders of select “champion” organizations, including GEHealthcare, J. Walter Thompson Company, Nokia, Team WIKISPEED, Toyota Connected and Unisys.

The report offers a data-informed, three-step approach for executive leaders to increase their organizational agility, which includes: Create a C-suite with an Agile mindset; hire and develop the right mix of talent; and, foster an Agile-friendly culture and organizational structure.

“The data is conclusive evidence of an idea the Scrum world has long understood: the future is Agile,” notes Renata Lerch, VP of Global Marketing and Communications. “In a fast-paced, ever-changing landscape of consumer demand and technological development, it’s logical that organizations themselves must be quick to execute and, more importantly, adapt to remain competitive.”

The report also outlines five key benefits of successfully Agile executives and their respective organizations:

  • Faster time to market
  • Faster innovation
  • Improved non-financial results such as customer experience and product quality
  • Improved employee morale
  • Revenue growth more than 10% greater than that of non-Agile organizations

According to the report, CEOs are the number one champion of an organization (87 percent agree compared to only 8 percent who report CEOs as a detractor to agility in today’s organizations). As such, it’s critical that they are informed and aware of the best practices for achieving organizational agility.

“This report should be encouraging to any CEO who has been less than satisfied with the results of their Agile transformation,” continues Lerch. “Few resources exist explaining to CEOs the quantitatively successful approaches to achieving agility. We sponsored this research with that in mind; it’s our goal to support CEOs and to bridge a gap for executives on an Agile journey.”
