Russia and Belarus suspended from Council of the Baltic Sea States

The members of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) – Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the European Union – have decided to suspend Russia and Belarus from further participation in the Council’s activities in response to the unprovoked and illegal military aggression now being waged by Russia, assisted by Belarus, against Ukraine, the Ukrainian people and the country's authorities.

Her Royal Highness of Denmark Crown Princess Mary, together with the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jeppe Kofod, and the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Nordic Cooperation, Flemming Møller Mortensen, has launched Denmark’s candidature for a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the period 2025-26. The launch took place in New York at a reception held in conjunction with the 77th opening of the United Nations General Assembly.
