Systems Maintenance Services Cited in Gartner's Third Party Maintenance Competitive Landscape
Systems Maintenance Services (SMS) has been identified as a Top Performer by Gartner for Third-Party Data Center and Network Maintenance for Data Center in their March 2016 report titled “Competitive Landscape: Data Center and Network Third Party Maintenance Service Providers [ID G00294372].” The report states, “The focus of this document is on Third Party Maintenance (TPM) market for data center and network support, which is maintenance provided independently from the OEMs.”
The report’s author, Christine Tenneson, is a Research Director supporting Gartner’s Managed Business and Technology services team research. Within the report she categorizes third party maintenance providers by the following named groups: Top Performers, Rising Stars, Disruptors, Stalwarts and Secondary Hardware Entrants. Top Performers are identified with the following attributes/characteristics:
“Global. Providers with significant market share today. Solid brand awareness. Well-developed service delivery strategy. Highly automated processes. Developed channel strategies.”
Tenneson also states, “End user interest and demand for alternatives to OEM support for data center and network maintenance is increasing, fueled by a need for cost optimization, particularly for post-warranty and EOSL data center and network devices.”
