EU Press Visit 2018

The Office of the European Union Representative in Jerusalem is organizing a press visit for European journalists to the West Bank from Sunday 21 October 2018 until Saturday October 2018.

This is part of a series of visits organized for European journalists to brief them on the EU and Member States assiatnce to the Palestinian people. This visit is for journalists from the European Union Member States. Priority will be given to journalists who didn't have the chance to visit the occupied Palestinian territory previously.

If you are interested in participating, please send us a short motivation letter explaining why you want tot participate and how you expect to use your press visit for publication purposes. Please also attach a CV that highlights the following:

  • Foreign affairs or political reporting experience
  • Interest in Middle East and Palestinian/Israeli issue
  • Current media outlet

Motivation letters and CVs should be sent to the emails below no later than 30 September 2018. We will confirm your selection by 9 October 2018 at the latest.

Please note that the EU covers/reimburses all associated flight tickets and local costs (accommodation + transportation + meals).

We, the Foreign Ministers and government representatives of Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have met today to address the challenge posed by the Russian shadow fleet. We call for further joint and coordinated action to effectively address Russian attempts to circumvent international sanctions. Russia’s destabilising actions have strengthened our resolve to protect maritime security, safety, the marine environment and freedom of navigation in accordance with international law. We are particularly concerned about stateless vessels and falsely flagged vessels. Stateless vessels, including those falsely claiming to fly a flag, do not have a responsible flag state and are not entitled to rights under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), including freedom of navigation.
