220 university students from 64 colleges in six European countries presented their 100 participant projects at the Future Award. Of these, 15 were awarded prize money of 1,000 Euros each. As part of the Future Convention, more than 950 visitors gathered information at the Museum for Communication in Frankfurt am Main on 23 November 2015 on ideas and concepts for the future of the economy and society.
Peter Feldmann, Patron and Lord Mayor of the city of Frankfurt am Main, said during the opening ceremony that Frankfurt was the best place to host the Future Convention since its creative and digital scene was of huge importance for this city with the largest Internet exchange. The number of people working in the creative sector alone rose by 47 percent between 2007 and 2014.
“We’re very pleased to have presented the Future Award 2015 to the ‘Public Brewing’ project. The winners, all students at the University of Applied Sciences in Germany, have demonstrated in a unique way with their interactive media façade displayed at a Düsseldorf brewery, how virtuality, motor skills, acoustics, visuality and haptics can be combined to provide a unique experience for all the senses in real time,” said Ralph Dittmar, Head of Business Wire’s DACH region.
Scott Fedonchik, Vice-President of Marketing at Business Wire, explained Business Wire’s commitment as follows: “The communications landscape is one of constant change, and Business Wire has maintained a position at the leading edge of news distribution for 50 years. Today’s young communications pros know that if you’re not posting, tweeting, snapping, streaming, instagraming, vineing and newswiring your message – in short, interacting through all available types of media – it's not being heard. Business Wire is always on the lookout for young talent with creative ideas, which is why we sponsor the Future Award.”
The tenth Future Award was presented this year. “We’re very pleased about the partnership with Business Wire, the global news service provider. This support confirms the international status of our future initiatives, and contributes to making it visible”, explained Hans Joachim Wolff, initiator of the Future Award and Future Convention, and Chairman of the DVPT (German association of post offices, information technology and telecommunications).
The special importance of the Future Convention in its role as a trendsetter in the German economy is reflected in the cooperation partnerships with national and international companies from very different sectors, that would like to promote innovations in a targeted manner. The Future Convention, together with the Future Award projects, foster interdisciplinary, cross-sector dialogue and bring young talent together with representatives from industries. Through workshops and panel discussions, the partners of the Future Convention inform about prevailing concepts and develop scenarios for the digital world of tomorrow together with the attendees.
