Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, announced today that it is the first company to achieve G3-PLC certification for its Linky smart meters, receiving certification for its single-phase meters. G3-PLC certification verifies the performance, conformance and interoperability of Linky smart meters that use G3 Power Line Carrier (PLC) communications technology. The meters are an important part of ERDF’s (Électricité Réseau Distribution France) Linky smart meter program.
Certification testing was performed by Laboratoire des Applications Numériques, a third-party testing laboratory selected by the G3 PLC Alliance. The tests validate the interoperability of Itron’s Linky meter as well as its conformance to the G3-PLC protocol. Additional tests confirmed the meter’s performance, including communications robustness against various types of interference.
