PARIS-RETAIL-WEEK
Paris Retail Week closed its doors on September 23rd after an exciting event buzzing with content and communication. The event at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles brought together the E-Commerce Paris (12th event) and Digital(in)Store (1st event) shows to embody the bond between on- and offline retail.
31,500 professionals attended quality conferences and the E-Commerce Awards ceremony over the 3-day event.
Let’s look back at the event sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital.
“The success of the first ever Paris Retail Week proves how relevant it is as it brings physical and online sales figures together. It’s made its mark as the new event for modern and future retail in France and abroad.
"Innovation is everywhere making Paris the capital of connected retail. The borders between on- and offline sales are disappearing to form unified retail for the super-connected consumer,” says Sophie Lubet, Retail Department Director of Comexposium.
6 points proving the event’s success
• The E-Commerce Paris surface area was 10% bigger (sqm)
• 20% more exhibitors than the target set for the 1st Digital(in)Store show
• Official launch by Martine Pinville , Secretary of State for Retail, Crafts, Consumerism and Social Economy
• Attendance by major market players e.g. FEVAD, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Alibaba, Whole Foods Market etc .
• 2 Store Tours to take the event outside the exhibition centre
• Broad media coverage with the event attended by TF1, France 2, M6, RTL etc.
Responsive Retail – central to all discussions
Directors of marketing, logistics and multichannel departments addressed an issue which affects everyone in the sector at 4 plenary conferences in which they shared their experiences and strategic points of view. Daniel Broche, E-commerce Director at Boulanger, Axel Dutreil, Head of eBusiness at Celio and Gonzague de la Fresnay, Shopper Marketing Director at L’Oréal honoured the event with their presence.
The borders between on-line and off-line are blurred. Visitors found out how the 541 participating companies involved in future retail plan to provide shoppers with a “seamless” shopping experience.
Identifying innovative start-ups at Paris Retail Week
The E-Commerce Awards are well-known in the industry and highlight companies whose innovations help online retailers to grow. Among them, E-Commerce Paris is proud to have identified renowned companies: Critéo (2008) whose turnover is now over a billion Euros and Mirakl the marketplace specialist (2012) which has just netted one of 2015’s biggest fundraising sums...
Following in the footsteps of these big names, 2015’s seven winners included AB Tasty that won the “Winner of the Winners”. They grabbed the knowledgeable panel’s attention meaning they have a bright future.
“We are delighted and proud to have won the award. It rewards 18 months working on our new AB Tasty “for App” solution which proves we’re always innovating. We see the E-Commerce Awards as recognition from a panel of experienced professionals,” said Rémi Aubert and Alix de Sagazan, co-founders of AB Tasty.
The ceremony’s audience were won over by SmartPixels , a young start-up in the future of POS.
“The Rookie of The Year award is a great driver which will help up boost our sales growth. We want to make the retail experience magical with digital,” says Julien Berta, Founder of SmartPixels.
