The hardware specifications include the use of a portable aluminium chassis with integrated 17.3” LCD panel with touchscreen. Because it is a fast processing system vMix uses the latest Intel CPU and SSD with 4 removable Hot-Swap SSD drive bays for hard drive capacity expansion.
From there we can separate the vMix Go solution into 3 different systems.
- The vMix Go Jr, which includes 4 HDMI video inputs and it is suitable for HDMI producers.
- The vMix Go Base is an introduction to SDI recording with 8 SDI video inputs, or 6 in and 2 outputs and it is suitable for SDI producers.
- The vMix Go Plus is the premium system, with 8 SDI video inputs or 6/2 and it is also featuring more RAM, extra storage and WiFi connection.
All vMix units have 1x2 Balanced XLR/TRS combo jack 1/8” stereo in and 16 channel SDI embedded Audio Inputs.
The SDI systems use the AJA Corvid 88 card with full-size connectors and support capture up to 4K resolution at up to 60p.
Regarding the portability of the unit, each system comes with a carry bag with wheels and it weights approximately 9.5 kg.
When it comes to the software, each unit is installed with Windows 8.1, the vMix Pro live production software and the complete version of Sony Vegas Edit Pro. This means you can produce your live event and perform any postproduction out of the box, on the same system.
vMix’s inputs capabilities are extensive. Each source is an input without any limitation. These include the normal camera inputs, still images or slideshows, video files for single playback or playlists. The user can also input the video from a computer on the same LAN or streaming files, which is great for showing screens and software demos. Last but not least you can import PowerPoint files directly into the program and page through them slide by slide directly on the screen.
vMix Pro has great features to work with Virtual Sets and Titles. A major feature is the Instant Replay. This comes with a full 4 channel in, 2 channel out Instant Replay/Sports management module. Monitor up to four real time camera inputs with easy clip marking/logging. After building a live list of events, producers can quickly play back any of the four camera angles with configurable slow motion playback from 5 to 400%.
vMix Pro can stream to any RTMP/Flash and Windows Media compatible live streaming service, like Youtube.
