Entrust Datacard Provides Personalization Solutions to Denmark for Health Insurance Cards

Entrust Datacard Corporation today announced that CardCoin Systems, an Enterprise Solutions Provider (ESP) for Entrust Datacard using Datacard® card personalization and delivery systems for the issuance of cards, have been selected by the Danish Department of Health to deliver highly secure health insurance cards.

Due to a change in the Danish Health Act, the Danish Department of Health was required to reissue over 5 million cards to its citizens within a very short period of time. Together with CardCoin Systems—an Enterprise Solutions Provider (ESP) for Entrust Datacard and a leading provider of card personalization and fulfillment solutions—the two companies were able to quickly deliver a cost-effective solution in order to meet a tight reissuance deadline.

To issue the cards, the Danish Department of Health selected CardCoin Systems, where Datacard® central card issuance and delivery technologies are used. CardCoin provided installation and maintenance services while serving as the card bureau. By utilizing the Datacard and CardCoin solutions, the Department of Health was able to reissue and mail millions of health insurance cards. In addition, they will be issuing 2,250,000 cards per year moving forward.

“The Danish Department of Health needed to rapidly reissue millions of cards in just a few short weeks because the current cards were about to expire given new regulations,” said Jim Runcie, regional vice president of EMEA sales, for Entrust Datacard. “The complete Datacard and CardCoin solution allowed them to meet this strict deadline but also prepared them for future issuance of secure health insurance cards.”

The full solution included three Datacard® MX6100™ and two Datacard® MX6000™ card personalization systems with monochrome graphics printing technology, mag encoding and inline card delivery and fulfillment systems with associated supplies.
