SPI Lasers , a leading designer and manufacturer of Fiber Lasers announces the acquisition of JK Lasers with effect from April 15, 2015 to enhance its high power Fiber Laser portfolio. With almost 100 employees and annual sales of 17.6 million euros, JK Lasers is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-power Fiber Lasers for industrial use.
JK Lasers, until now a member of the GSI Group, has more than 40 years of experience in industrial Laser development. The company's core competence is in high power Fiber Lasers with outputs up to 4 kilowatts, as well as combiners for joining Laser sources and other beam guidance components. Their products are used by machine manufacturers for Laser cutting and welding applications and for additive manufacturing.
Based in Rugby, in the UK, JK Lasers is just a few hours' drive away from SPI Lasers facilities in Southampton. The move will see JK Lasers, its products, offices and an additional 42,000 sq ft of floor space incorporated into the single brand of SPI Lasers, with the Rugby site continuing to operate as a production and development centre for Fiber Lasers and optical components – fully utilising the two companies' complementary expertise and product focus areas.
