The campaigning is done, votes have been cast and the grand prize winner of Medline International’s second annual European Pink Glove Dance video competition is – Clínica Bofill in Girona, Spain. The Pink Glove Dance is the only breast cancer awareness campaign that unites thousands of clinicians, breast cancer survivors and communities, to celebrate hope for a cure and honor everyone affected by breast cancer through the joy of dance.
“We are absolutely delighted to have won the European Pink Glove Dance 2014 competition, especially as we were competing against much bigger hospitals from other countries. We were so lucky to have great support from all the staff at the clinic that really put their hearts into making this video and of course to everyone who voted for us,” said Jane Priestley of Clínica Bofill. “The prize money will be awarded to Oncolliga de Girona and will be destined specifically for breast cancer patients. We would encourage other hospitals and clinics to follow our example and participate in the contest next year – we had such fun making the video and I think it shows!”
The Clínica Bofill video received over 13,000 online votes, securing the grand prize winner title and a € 8,000 donation from Medline to the hospital’s breast cancer charity of choice, Oncolliga de Girona.
Sponsored by Medline — the creator of the YouTube® sensation Pink Glove Dance and manufacturer of the pink exam gloves — the competition included video submissions from hospitals, spanning 5 countries in Europe.
In addition to the grand prize winner, this year’s competition also awarded second and third place winners. Second place was awarded to Kliniken Essen-Mitte in Essen, Germany. The video from KEM Get’s Pink received over 11,000 votes and will be awarded a € 4,000 donation for their charity of choice, Karl und Veronica Carstens-Stiftung.
Hôpital Cantonal de Genève in Geneva, Switzerland was awarded third place after receiving nearly 8,000 votes. They have chosen to donate their € 3,000 prize to Association savoir patient and Ligue genevoise contre le cancer
Overall nine teams competed in the second annual Pink Glove Dance competition in Europe.
