The MP1101Q MUX device joins the MP1100Q MLSE Receiver/DEMUX to provide the best performance in the industry for 4X28G Direct Detect Solutions

MultiPhy Ltd, a global leader in DSP-based high bandwidth CMOS communications semiconductors, today announced the availability of its 100G Direct Detect MUX/DEMUX Chipset, including the MP1101Q 100G MUX Transmitter device, a 100G CMOS Multiplexer semiconductor device to be utilized in conjunction with the MP1100Q MLSE DMUX Receiver.

The MP1101Q is a 40nm CMOS MUX device providing the standard 10 to 4 gearbox function needed for all 100G optical transmission. The device is compliant to client side interfaces such as CAUI and MLD. Supporting the standard 7% FEC overhead expansion rates, the MP1101Q is packaged in a 17mmX17mm RoHS compliant 1mm ball pitch BGA.

The new chipset sets new benchmarks for performance and cost structure. It enables 100G reaches up to 55km (1100ps/nm), thus fulfilling the demand for +/-800ps/nm of dispersion compensation on established Metro WDM networks, making it the perfect performance upgrade solution for the transition from 10G to 100G Metro transport. The chipset also allows for the use of inexpensive 10G optoelectronics in the realization of the 100G 4X28G module, resulting in a very cost effective 100G Transport solution.

Targeted to be used alongside the MultiPhy MP1100Q MLSE receiver chip, the MP1101Q provides a full transceiver solution for the customer base. The MP1101Q provides the muxing function for Direct Detection systems and the chipset is a superb solution to be deployed in both traditional 4X28G WDM applications as well as point-to-point Datacenter style applications. “Our customers have requested that we bring a full transceiver solution to the marketplace,” said Avi Shabtai, CEO of MultiPhy. “The MP1101Q provides this important MUX function to the MP1100Q MSLE Receiver and allows our customers to depend on a single supplier for these closely coupled devices.

MultiPhy will be discussing the MP1101Q MUX device along with the MP1100Q MLSE Receiver device at the ECOC show, Amsterdam, Booth No. 617. Please contact Neal Neslusan at neal.neslusan@multi-phy.com , +1 978 302 5700 to arrange for a booth visit.
