Esri Helps Bring Up-to-Date Road Closure Information to Google Maps and Waze

ArcGIS Users Can Provide Road Closure Data to Additional Consumer Apps to Help Improve Travel for Motorists Esri has expanded its Community Maps Program, enabling ArcGIS users to share real-time road closures directly with Google Maps and Waze. More than 100 communities worldwide already contribute authoritative road closure data through Esri's Community Maps Program. The ArcGIS Road Closures solution allows governments to map and share closures caused by construction, events, and emergencies with consumer navigation apps. Integration with Waze for Cities provides bidirectional data sharing, including access to real-time traffic alerts and hazards reported by drivers.
Esri has expanded its Community Maps Program, enabling road closure data to be shared with Google Maps and Waze. The Road Closures solution, in Esri's ArcGIS platform, was introduced last year as a way for users to easily share road closure updates directly with popular consumer mapping providers so they can update their maps with this important information. The solution aimed to bridge the gap between government agencies managing timely road updates and the public, who rely on mapping apps for real-time navigation.
Over 100 communities around the United States and other countries are actively sharing their road closure information. ArcGIS users can now easily share that same authoritative data with Google Maps and Waze via the Waze for Cities program.

ArcGIS users can register the same road closure layer that is shared with Esri Community Maps with Waze for Cities, and it will be referenced by both Waze and Google Maps. ArcGIS and Waze for Cities users can also access a real-time crowdsourced data feed of road hazards, accidents, and traffic conditions reported by Waze users and partners.
