NIRAS acquires IPDS Intelligent Project Design Services to strengthen its growing process industry and green fuels engineering consultancy business
2.7.2026 06:00:00 CEST | Niras A/S | Pressemeddelelse
International engineering consultancy, NIRAS, has acquired British IPDS Intelligent Project Design Services (IPDS) on 1 July 2026.

The acquisition is aligned with NIRAS’ international development and expands its presence across the green fuels and chemicals value chain. The colleagues joining NIRAS from IPDS will become part of a global network of industry experts working on high profile projects in the U.K. and beyond.
Becoming part of a global growing multi-disciplinary consultancy
“It is our ambition at NIRAS to achieve a leading position as expert consultants in the process industry value chain, and together with IPDS, we will especially strengthen our capacities for design of green fuels and chemical process facilities. With this acquisition, NIRAS and IPDS will be able to create growth opportunities driven by scale and expertise. This will strengthen our joint business position significantly, and we will be able to offer an even better service to our clients across the U.K. and internationally. We very much look forward to welcoming our new colleagues from IPDS to NIRAS”, says Thomas B. Olsen, Executive Vice President, Process Industry in NIRAS.
Combining industry expertise to support clients
With the strong expertise from IPDS, NIRAS will strengthen its position on the U.K. market, by which the support to clients across the process industries will become even stronger.
“We’re excited to join forces with our new colleagues at NIRAS. I’m very confident that we can create even stronger solutions together, leveraging NIRAS’ strong global position with expert teams across the process industries. Especially looking at the U.K. market for green fuels/future fuels, this move makes perfect sense for us, and for NIRAS. The market and the solutions are moving quickly, and we will be front and centre, delivering the very best solutions,” says Kevin Brookes, Technical Director at IPDS.
Barrie Pike, Director at IPDS, continues:
“It’s a good thing for our team to become part of the global NIRAS team and get access to knowledge and expertise from all its many international process industry colleagues. At the end of the day, we’re looking to deliver the best projects and solutions to our clients, and there’s no better way for us to do that going forward, than together with NIRAS”.
IPDS will add approximately 20 industry specialists to the NIRAS team, based in Cardiff, Wales. In collaboration with NIRAS, they will gain access to new markets, projects, and development opportunities.
