From Target to Effect: SitaWare Headquarters introduces Joint Fires & Targeting capabilities
16.4.2026 10:45:23 CEST | Systematic | Press release
With SitaWare Headquarters 6.22, Systematic has introduced a dedicated Targeting Application that brings the targeting process into the same C4ISR environment used for operational planning, situational awareness and mission execution.

Modern operations demand the rapid delivery of coordinated effects across land, maritime and air domains. Yet achieving decisive outcomes is increasingly constrained not by available firepower, but by the speed at which sensors, decision-makers and effectors can be synchronised. Standalone targeting systems, manual processes and a lack of shared visibility across echelons and operations staff slow the cycle from target identification to engagement.
A structured process within the C2 platform
The new Targeting Application covers the entire dynamic targeting cycle. Users create and maintain targeting lists, nominate targets, assign engagement organisations and track engagement status directly within SitaWare Headquarters. Because targeting information and processing status are shared across connected nodes, targeting and operations staff at different echelons work from a consistent, current picture, replacing the manual handovers that currently sit between dedicated targeting tools and the C2 environment.
Connecting intelligence, operations and effectors
The application draws directly on the intelligence feeds, Common Operational Picture and planning products already maintained in SitaWare Headquarters. Targeting data sits alongside ISR reporting and operational orders, supporting the tighter integration of functional processes that Multi-Domain Operations require.
For commanders and staff, this means that targeting decisions are informed by the same operational context they use for planning and execution, without switching between separate systems.
Extending to the tactical edge
The Joint Fires and Targeting capabilities introduced in SitaWare Headquarters release 6.22 are the first phase of a broader development effort. Subsequent releases will progressively extend targeting functionality to SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge, connecting headquarters-level processes with mounted and dismounted units in the field and building towards a continuous targeting chain from staff to forward observer.
“In most force structures today, the targeting process runs parallel to the C2 system rather than inside it. That means every engagement involves multiple system transitions, re-entry of data and manual status updates between echelons. The Targeting Application in SitaWare Headquarters removes that friction. Targeting data lives where operational decisions are made, and status is shared the moment it changes.”
