Frontgrade's SimpiStor™ 2.5TB Solid-State Data Recorder
High-Throughput Performance
SimpliStor delivers 2.5 terabytes of storage and 10Gbps throughput in a compact 3U SpaceVPX package, combining exceptional performance with low power consumption.
Users can record more data in less time, with latency under 100 microseconds and continuous “store-to-full” recording, ensuring no data loss during peak operations. A 33-minute continuous recording window and rapid full-erase cycle (<1 minute) help operators capture complete mission runs, speed up data turnaround, and keep spacecraft in operation longer, increasing overall mission productivity.
Simplifying system design and integration, SimpliStor acts as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, it connects easily through a single 10GBase-KR Ethernet link, reducing cabling, complexity, and integration time.
For more advanced applications, its 4-lane PCIe Gen 3.0 interface allows onboard processors to access, analyze, and act on data instantly, enabling AI-driven autonomy, onboard analytics, and compression. Users can gain faster insights in orbit, reduce reliance on limited downlink bandwidth, and lower mission costs through smarter, more autonomous spacecraft operations.
Engineered for Harsh Environments
Designed for extreme environments, SimpliStor withstands 30k–50k rad(Si) unshielded total ionizing dose and is immune to non-destructive single-event latch-up through 37MeV-cm2/mg. SimpliStor operates from –25°C to +65°C while consuming less than 25W dynamic power. It enables high-resolution imagery, continuous payload logging, and real-time onboard analytics for platforms ranging from CubeSats to GEO satellites.
“As missions become increasingly data-driven, our customers need storage systems that are as intelligent and resilient as their spacecraft,” said Lorne Graves, Sr. VP and Chief Technology Officer, Frontgrade Technologies. “SimpliStor empowers them to collect, process, and protect critical information faster and more efficiently, turning raw data into actionable insight that drives mission success.”
Frontgrade’s long-standing reputation in high-reliability electronics ensures that SimpliStor meets the highest standards for performance, longevity, and mission assurance. By combining power efficiency, system flexibility, and radiation-tolerant reliability, Frontgrade continues to reduce customer risk, shorten development timelines, and enhance operational confidence for the next generation of space missions.
