Copenhagen Conference on Democracy and the Rule of Law
On 4–5 December 2025, the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, will host the Copenhagen Conference on Democracy and the Rule of Law.
The Copenhagen Conference on Democracy and the Rule of Law will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the state of democracy and the rule of law in the EU. It will explore how better to respond to challenges to our democracies, and what role the EU can play.
Over two days, there will be four panels of debate and high-level speakers incl. Professor Jan-Werner Müller, Professor Francis Fukuyama (by video), Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath, President of the European Court of Justice Koen Lenaerts and Minister for European Affairs Marie Bjerre.
