STARK Group opens new flagship branch outside London – the largest in the UK
STARK Group is strengthening its presence in the UK market with the opening of a new flagship branch in Luton, northwest of London. Operated under the Group’s British brand, Jewson, the branch spans 26,000 m², making it the largest in STARK Group’s UK network. The opening marks an important step in meeting the growing demand from professional tradespeople and the construction industry across the country.

The opening is part of STARK Group’s strategy to consolidate its market position through purpose-built branches, regional distribution centres, and the modernisation of existing branches. The Luton branch has been developed in line with Jewson’s 'Branch of the Future' concept, which focuses on larger, more efficient branches with modern facilities that enhance logistics, service, and the overall customer experience.
John Carter, CEO of STARK Building Materials UK Ltd, says:
“The launch of the new Jewson Luton branch is not only our largest and flagship branch in our logistics network, it also marks a significant moment for the industry, because it represents a step-change to the form of merchanting business that will help the trades build, renovate, maintain and improve the new and existing homes stock the UK needs."
With more than 11,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs), the branch offers a comprehensive range of building materials, services, and expert advice all in one place. This ensures an efficient 'one-stop shop' experience that supports both large-scale construction projects and the everyday needs of tradespeople.
As part of STARK Group’s ambition to commercialise sustainability, the branch also features Jewson’s first 'Sustainability House', a full-scale demonstration home showcasing low-emission solutions from the 'Building for the Future’ product range. The centre provides a hands-on learning environment to help customers meet evolving environmental standards and regulations.
The branch was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Luton, Amy Nicholls, who highlighted its role as a hub for local tradespeople and its contribution to regional economic growth.
