II Decolonizing Mindsets for Security in Ukraine and Europe Forum
26.3.2025 14:11:53 CET | Ukraine House in Denmark | Press invitation
Copenhagen, Denmark – April 25, 2025 – Ukraine House in Denmark invites to join us for a second edition of the Decolonizing Mindsets for Security in Europe Forum. In this iteration, the cultural dimension of decolonization will be in focus.

Historically, culture was used as a powerful tool of both colonial ambitions and national resistance against the erasure of collective identity. From global trends and best practices in cultural rightful retribution to making space for formerly repressed and colonized voices, we invite you to join us in discussion on the latest crucial movements in cultural resistance to Russian colonialism and its implications in the broader geopolitical context.
We will be joined by experts from across Scandinavia, Eastern and Western Europe to reflect and compare notes: how has colonializm impacted international perceptions of European art and cultural heritage? And how does one decolonize their collections?
We will be able to hear the thoughts of, among others:
- Tetyana Filevska – creative director of the Ukrainian Institute and researcher of Ukrainian art of the 20th century. Among all else, Tetyana will present, for the first time, the Decolonising guide for Museums, focused on recognising and resisting Russian colonializm.
- Frederik Rosén – director of the Nordic Center for Cultural Heritage and Armed Conflict, Adjunct Associate Professor at Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies at the University of Copenhagen.
- Kateryna Botanova – cultural critic, curator, writer focusing on decoloniality in art and culture in Eastern Europe and the Global South.
- Annika Hvithamar – head of the Institute of Regional / Cross Cultural Studies, University of Copenhagen.
