Join UNOPS at COP29

From 11 to 22 November 2024, the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

UNOPS is committed to providing the practical solutions needed to turn climate ambitions into robust action. 

Through our work, we are helping build climate resilience, supporting the green energy transition, and empowering communities to drive positive change for people and the planet to thrive. 

As part of its presence at COP29, UNOPS – and the initiatives we manage and support – will participate in more than 50 events over the course of the conference. In addition, UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva will meet global leaders in Baku to discuss the urgent need for implementation and how UNOPS can help bridge the gap to turn climate commitments into tangible progress for countries and communities around the world.

UNOPS at COP29

UNOPS provides practical solutions to partners, advancing sustainable development and climate action worldwide. We are heading to COP29 with a clear mission: to showcase our impactful strategies and collaborative efforts in addressing climate change. 

UNOPS will highlight its expertise in infrastructure, procurement and project and financial management services, which have been instrumental in supporting countries’ mitigation, adaptation and loss and damage efforts as climate threats escalate. 

Interview opportunities with UNOPS Executive Director 

The UNOPS delegation at COP29 will be led by Jorge Moreira da Silva, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UNOPS Executive Director. 

Mr Moreira da Silva will be available for interviews, on a range of issues, including adaptation, mitigation, sustainable energy, sustainable and resilient infrastructure and low-carbon supply chains. He will be able to draw on UNOPS rich experience implementing projects worldwide.

Participation in events

At COP29, UNOPS will participate in more than 50 events to showcase the importance of infrastructure, procurement and project management and implementation to address the climate crisis. Details of our programme are available here
