“Rooted and Thriving” – 6 resilient Ukrainian brands at 3daysofdesign
Copenhagen, Denmark, 6 June 2024 – Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation and We and World project proudly present 6 unique Ukrainian brands at this year’s 3daysofdesign festival.
In the face of a full-scale Russian war of aggression, these brands have shown remarkable resilience. This event marks an extraordinary opportunity to experience their innovative designs and meet their visionary creators here in Copenhagen. At Ukraine House in Denmark, visitors will be able to learn:
-
How does a design brand survive when war cuts access to their essential supplies?
-
How does a brand transform a centuries-old traditional style into a modern design?
-
How do you restore and preserve a tradition that has been suppressed for centuries due to colonial rule?
Through the festival, from 12.06 to 14.06, 11:00-19:00, they will have a chance to view the designs of the brands, and speak with
-
Juliana Strypa, the co-founder and creative director of the brand “GRONO”
-
Danuta Kril, the founder, designer and idea creator of the brand “GUCULIYA”
-
Julia Kushnirenko, the founder and artist behind the brand “MANUFACTORY ZHORNA ARCHAIC UKRAINE”
On 13.06, at 16:00 Ukraine House in Denmark will host a special event - an open discussion with the aforementioned founders, accompanied with Ukrainian wine and a tour of the brands’ designs.
“Ukraine House in Denmark is proud to represent Ukraine for the first time at 3daysofdesign, introducing contemporary Ukrainian design brands to Danish and international audiences in the heart of Copenhagen. We hope to establish a tradition, where, just as Ukrainian embroidery has become a global fashion trend, Ukrainian design brands and the rich culture that inspires them will gain recognition and appreciation worldwide.” - says Nataliya Popovych, Chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark
“In Denmark, the Kozytskyi Charity Foundation is organizing an artistic project for the first time, in collaboration with the Ukraine House in Denmark. We have always presented only visual art, but today we are showcasing an exhibition of crafted art from renowned Ukrainian brands and designers. Ukraine historically consists of 15 ethnographic regions, each with its unique ornamentation, imagery, color, composition, and techniques. Ukrainian craftspeople and designers have passed down this tradition from generation to generation, gradually modifying it.” - adds Khrystyna Berehovska, Artistic Director of Kozytskyi Charity Foundation
The founders of the brands will be available for comments and interviews all throughout the 3daysofdesign.
