For the third consecutive time, Ukraine House in Denmark in partnership with the Alliance of Democracies is bringing the perspective of Ukrainian art and culture to the global audience of the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. This year we are creating an installation to showcase a participatory art project with a crucial message by the renowned Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova.

The project is Russian Rocket 2022. It entails stickers picturing russian ballistic missiles can be placed on public transport windows, creating the illusion of rockets flying over peaceful cities. People are encouraged to shoot videos and photos of the Russian Rocket 2022 and send them to the dedicated Instagram page. The project aims to share the experience of Ukrainians living under the constant threat of missile attacks and to remind the world that if not stopped in Ukraine, the nightmare of russian aggression could become a reality in other countries. Within CDS the delegates will be introduced to several videos from the project on screens in the hall. The videos demonstrate the stickers “flying” over peaceful cities around the world, delivering the message of the installation. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to partake in the project themselves, as stickers will be available and distributed next to the installation.

“Slowly - too slowly - the world’s democracies come to realize that without meaningful investments into defense, they are very vulnerable against the authoritarian neoimperial states like russia who are able to weaponize everything: economy, information, culture and engage in nuclear blackmail. The goal of our intervention during Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2024 is to visually demonstrate to the audience that - unless democracies are defended - russian rockets will begin to be seen in the airspace of European cities. In this way we encourage Ukraine’s allies to equip Ukraine to defend freedom and democracy for all.” - says Nataliya Popovych, the CEO of the Ukraine House in Denmark.

Ukraine House in Denmark also invites all for the yearly post-Copenhagen Democracy Summit reflections at the House. This will be a joint event with DIPD - Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy - a thoughtful exploration of the themes discussed at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, covering topics such as security, culture, foreign policy and reconstruction of Ukraine.

At the event, you will be able to engage with fellow participants of the summit as we delve into these important subjects together. We will be joined by:

Michael Aastrup Jensen, Member of Danish Folketing (Liberal Party) and Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee

Andriy Yanevsky, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Denmark

Viktor Nestulia, Head of Ukraine Support, Head of DREAM Project Office (under the auspices of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and the Restoration Agency of Ukraine)

Tetiana Kupisovska, senior executive officer, IFES (International Foundation for Electoral Systems) Ukraine

Peter Erben, IFES Principal Advisor and IFES Ukraine Senior Country Director

Ieva Ilves, Advisor, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine

Khatia Dekanoidze, Member of Georgian Parliament (depending on events in Georgia – in person or online)

Nataliya Popovych, chairperson of Ukraine House

The discussion will be moderated by the Executive Director of the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy, Mathias Parsbæk Skibdal.

The discussion will be followed by a glass of Ukrainian cabernet and the guided tour of the Shared Body Mykolayiv Conceptual Photography exhibition by our curator Katya Stukalova.
