"Dudaryk” will bring the heart of Ukrainian Christmas traditions to you.
Founded in 1971 during the challenges of Soviet occupation, they became a shining example of Ukrainian musical excellence. Notably, they made history by performing under the Ukrainian flag in the USA just before the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine.Their mission is to enrich and promote Ukrainian musical heritage globally while preserving the centuries-old tradition of choral music in Ukraine. Christmas concerts in Copenhagen promise to be a captivating showcase of Ukrainian Christmas carols and traditions.
"Curating Dudaryk's concerts in Copenhagen is a distinct privilege. Our aim is to enable this exceptional choir to resonate abroad during wartime, bringing the rich tapestry of Ukrainian choral tradition to the Danish audience, all while championing Dudaryk's philanthropic cause—dedicated support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, the harsh reality looms: should Ukraine not prevail in its struggle against Russia, the current mobility and melodic prowess of Dudaryk's members may be traded for a different role on the front lines, alongside a myriad of other professionals—artists, scientists, engineers, poets—who have already answered the call to defend global freedom.
As Christmas approaches, marking the second year of separation for millions of Ukrainian families, these concerts serve as a poignant intersection of solace and solidarity. For both the Ukrainians seeking refuge and the Danish audience, the harmony of Dudaryk becomes a source of joy and hope from Ukraine," says Nataliia Popovych, Chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark.
Their mission extends beyond music; Dudaryk aims to enrich and promote Ukrainian musical heritage globally while preserving the centuries-old tradition of choral music in Ukraine. The upcoming Christmas concerts in Copenhagen promise to be a captivating showcase of Ukrainian Christmas carols and traditions.
“I emphasize the vital role of performing abroad, not just as a musical endeavor, but as a psychological respite from the realities of war. Performing abroad becomes a meaningful avenue for us. Every concert we hold, every contribution we receive, all income and fees generated by Dudaryk go directly toward supporting our country's defense capabilities. This takes on a profound significance as we strive to represent and safeguard the rich tapestry of Ukrainian cultural heritage on the global stage,” says conductor Dmytro Katsal.
Dudaryk also fights for the cultural heritage of Ukraine through projects like "Acceptance," challenging historical misconceptions and collecting Ukrainian songs that were erroneously claimed by others.

Since 2022, the Copenhagen Democracy Summit has become a vital platform for Ukraine House in Denmark to bring Ukraine’s voice to those shaping global politics and policies. At the entrance of CDS 2025, Ukraine House in Denmark, in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine, presented a modest but powerful installation by the Ukrainian Infantry: “Democracy stands because the Ukrainian infantry stands.” It featured combat-worn boots from the frontline—not parade boots like those seen on Red Square, but real, battered ones, marked by mud and fire. The boots are silent witnesses to sacrifice, and a reminder that freedom never defends itself. Someone always does.

On Sunday, April 27, Ukraine House in Denmark had the honour of hosting a discussion dedicated to the legacy and present-day relevance of the Chornobyl disaster. We were privileged to welcome Professor Serhii Plokhii, Director of the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University and a globally recognized authority on nuclear catastrophes. Professor Plokhii, who joined us at the opening of Ukraine House, opened by reminding us that “authoritarian regimes are there to create disasters—small disasters and big disasters—and Chornobyl is about a big disaster that can destroy life on Earth.” He went on to draw a chilling parallel between 1986 and 2022: “The most disturbing part of that new Chornobyl crisis that emerged in 2022 was that it was caused by the very same phenomenon—the authoritarian regime that has complete disregard for norms of international law, for human life, for environmental concerns.”
