CPH Half 2024 returns to Østerbro
Gear up for an elevated race experience as the CPH Half Marathon makes its grand return to the historic and charming streets of Østerbro on September 15, 2024.

With valuable input from the participants, we've reimagined the start and finish lines, ensuring every step of the 21KM is filled with the spirit of Copenhagen.
The 27,000 participants who took part in the CPH Half 2023 in September experienced beautiful surroundings in Frederiksberg in connection with the start and finish areas. But after a thorough evaluation with the inclusion of the participants' feedback, the organizer, Sparta Athletics & Running, is excited to bring the race back to its roots in Østerbro.
"Our vision is to host a race that’s not just technically flawless but also offer a smooth experience for the participants, with top notch safety. We are looking forward to creating the world-class running fiesta and unique experience of Copenhagen streets which our half marathon is known for," begins managing director of Sparta Athletics & Running, Dorte Vibjerg, and continues:
"We have been very happy with the collaboration with Frederiksberg, but Østerbro´s setting aligns perfectly with our ambitions and the expectations of our participants. We therefore look forward to welcoming you to Østerbro again," says Dorte Vibjerg.
Among other initiatives towards the improvement of the race experience, the organizer has moved the start to 9:30am to ensure ideal temperatures during the race.
Part of the preparations for the WRRC in 2026
The next two years are pivotal as Sparta in partnership with Danish Athletics prepare for the prestigious World Athletics World Road Running Championships 2026. Copenhagen will become the stage for the world's fastest runners in the half marathon, the 5 km and the road mile (1.609 km).
"The World Athletics Road Running Championships 2026 isn´t just another half marathon; it´s a grand celebration, uniting 65,000 elite and recreational runners in a masterful celebration of running. For the coming years, our focus is to optimize, refine and generally strengthen the organization towards 2026," says Dorte Vibjerg and adds:
"Furthermore, we are thrilled to present another one-of-a-kind half-marathon event, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Øresund Bridge. The commemorative Bridge Run will invite 40,000 participants. This event will stand out not just as a race, but as an opportunity that may never come again.”
The Bridge Run is for anyone who wants to try a half marathon in very special settings. 40,000 participants can look forward to lacing up their running shoes on the Danish side, run down through the tunnel and then across the nearly 8 km long Øresund Bridge 57 meters above sea level, before crossing the finish line in Sweden.
There will also be open registration for the World Championships. This means that anyone can try their best and run in the dust from the world's elite on the world championship courses on all three distances.
