CGFNS International joins with The DAISY Foundation™ to honor outstanding nurse recruiters
PHILADELPHIA, PA / ACCESSWIRE / November 17, 2023 / Foreign-educated nurses and other health professionals who use recruitment firms to obtain work in the U.S. are far more likely to be satisfied with their experience when they use a recruiter that is certified by the Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices, according to survey results released today by CGFNS International.

The results showed that 88 percent of respondents reported having a positive experience with their recruiter, with 51 percent indicating their experience was very positive. This compares to an earlier CGFNS survey showing 69 percent reporting a positive/very positive experience when the respondents included those using non-certified recruiters.
CGFNS International, which validates training and skills of migrating health workers to meet standards of their destination countries, recently reported that more than half of health professionals migrating to the U.S. use an international recruitment firm to help them manage what can be a lengthy, complex, and expensive migration process. These firms typically fund the nurse's migration costs and help manage the visa petition in return for the nurse's commitment to work for the firm for a set timeframe upon their arrival in the U.S.
The Alliance for Ethical International Recruitment Practices undertakes a rigorous process for assessing the recruitment practices of those firms that apply to become a CER, with all firms on the list submitting to recertification every two years.
The Alliance also announced today that 14 firms are certified, with four firms (marked below by an asterisk) having joined the list for the first time in the past year:
- African Wood
- ANP Health Services*
- Avant Healthcare Professionals*
- Bemazies Consult
- Connetics USA - AMN Healthcare
- Global Nurse Partners
- Health Carousel - Passport USA
- Health Carousel Philippines, Inc.
- MedPro International
- The Nash Group
- O'Grady Peyton International - AMN Healthcare
- Southeast Asian Placement Center Inc. (SEAPCI)
- Valley Medical Staffing*
- VEMA Staffing Partners*
- WorldWide HealthStaff Solutions
"When they operate ethically, transparently and use best practices, international recruitment firms perform an important role in supplying high-quality nurses to health systems in need of additional staffing support to ensure quality patient care delivery," said Dr. Peter Preziosi, CGFNS International's President and CEO. "It is also essential to protect health professionals who have made the life-altering decision to migrate. These survey results underscore the value for both health workers and employers to use Certified Ethical Recruiters."
Honoring Outstanding Nurse Recruiters with The DAISY Award®
To highlight the importance of ethical recruitment, CGFNS also announced that nominations are now open for a DAISY Award to honor nurses who have made an extraordinary impact on the lives of nurse migrants through their compassion, empathy, and ethical international recruitment practices. DAISY Awards are given out globally to recognize nursing excellence.
The CGFNS DAISY Award for Outstanding International Nurse Recruiter is open to individual nurses who are actively engaged, either directly or indirectly, in international nurse recruitment efforts. This includes nurses who work as recruiters, nurses who work as third-party agents to advise migrating nurses, and nurses employed by recruitment firms in other roles in executive leadership, or as clinical nurse advisors or chief nursing officers (CNOs).
The awardee can be nominated by individual nurse immigrants themselves, their employer (including hospitals or health systems), or a reputable recruitment firm.

About The DAISY Foundation
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.) The care Patrick and his family received from Nurses while he was ill inspired the creation of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, an evidenced-based means of providing Nurse recognition and thanking Nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
In addition to the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, the Foundation expresses gratitude to the nursing profession internationally in over 6,200 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing with recognition programs for nurses wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers - from nursing student through lifetime achievement, and through several lines of research grant and evidence-based practice projects funding.
