David Byrne gives a talk at CLICK Festival – Launch of the Line-up Part 2

Share

DAVID BYRNE / ENVISIONING EMOTIONAL EPISTEMOLOGICAL INFORMATION
David Byrne visits the festival with his installation and his talk “I ♥ PowerPoint”, which is based on his work "EEEI (Envisioning Emotional Epistemological Information)” which holds a book and a DVD of Byrnes PowerPoint art. David Byrne has dedicated his whole life to reflect on the ubiquitous presentation software as an art media. It started out as a joke (this software symbolizes a company’s sales technic, or the lack of it). But Byrne was surprised to find a world of opportunities to express yourself creatively within the medias limitations.

Intense, intimate and extreme adventures
"We could not hope for a greater opening at the 24-hour event at CLICK Festival, as we want to challenge the audience’s experience by a mixture of sound, exhibitions and performances in one event” says Georg Rasmussen, Festival Manager at CLICK Festival. An intense, intimate and extreme experience awaits the audiences at the 24-hour event, where Byrne combine his talk with an experiment on how to disrupt the traditional dimensions of CLICK and create a more intense, intimate and diverse experience for the audience and the performing artists.

The music line-up at CLICK ’24 Noon till Noon’ ranges widely and offers performance, art of sound, miniature raves, installations, experiments and extraordinary concert events. You will find experimenting multi-artists such as the Japanese Keiji Haion – the grand father of noise, the American Ellen Fullmann and her poetic, sculpture ‘Long String Instrument’ – an instrument consisting of 30 meters long and 5 meters wide strings. The program also represents a complete different genre of Spanish deconstructed techno with Evol, considerate atmosphere from the Danish Dubrovnik, Elias Bender Rønnenfelt as the front singer in Marching Church, tuning into the dub-legend Lee Scratch Perry and the reggae phenomena Mad Professor.

The music line-up 2015 – batch 2

LUSTMORD (UK)
”I started doing it because the sounds I wanted to hear didn´t exist.“ The British dark electronic project, Lustmord, Brian Williams, is often referred to as the father of dark ambient and Lustmord’s his, which date back to the mid-1980s, have achieved cult status. These early recordings were created in vaults, caves or abattoirs and later embellished with sounds that give the music a ritualistic feel like Tibetan wind instruments or repetitive chanting. Lustmord has collaborated with such projects as The Melvins, Coil, Isis, Tool and SPK as well as working on many films of which a few are Spawn, Underworld and The Crow.

Objekt (GB)
The German T. J. Hertz is known under the alias Objekt. He composes unique music with constellations of techno beats, IDM and drum’n’bass attitude with a cosmic, funky sound. The result is confident, persistent and cocky. Hence his music automatically makes your feet and body move to the rhythm

Mischa Pavlovski (DK)
Mischa Pavlovski composes ambient techno. He also experiments with sound frames, which is unusual for the music he practises. Pavlovski refuses to be dictated by genre hence he has no limitations. Come join his universe.

We Like We (DK)
We Like We represent four Danish musicians Katrine Grarup Elbo, Sara Rosendal, Josefine Opsahl and Katinka Fogh Vindelev. All group members have studied the classic fields of cello, drums and singing, but the educational tools and guidelines are fare from noticeable in their work. An experimenting repertoire overrules the perfect sound frame and creates a unique universe of choir singers and soulless tunes.

The Sons Of God (NO)
The Sons of God consists of the two Norwegian artists Leif Elgren and Kent Tankred. The duo works in the intersection between performance, installation and music. The two artists explore the mental universe by observing physical demanding movements and dynamic voice usage. The duo works with sound objects and pre-recorded compositions. The phonetic aspect is an important keyword in their work but they also focus on staging a visual experience. Their physical presence is almost a surreal branch of the Italian theatre form called Colledia dell’arte. The Sons of God observe, document, experiment and ask questions. They build to destroy. The audience is the ones who decide the outcome and let the experience carry them away.

CLICK also gives you Small White Man and 2000 F.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
CLICK Festival identifies the amazing and crazy fields of intersection between science, art, and technology. This happens together with the audience of students, professionals, scientists and the curious. The festival is a co-operation of many Danish and foreign curators, artists and people of strong opinions. The slogan of the festival - embrace new territories, explore new maps - emphasizes that we embrace the future and dive into some of the greatest questions of tomorrows’ civilization. A future, where the technology is progressing fast and stands more alive and dominant than ever before. A tomorrow where the question no longer concerns the fear of technological changes, but more likely concerns the fear of missing out on them. The festival unfolds a multiple program of concerts, workshops, lectures, exhibits and performances that introduces the new tomorrow, now.

CLICK was first held in 2011 and is developed and produced at the Culture Yard in Elsinore, where the festival is being held.
