The Power-to-X tender is now open
It is now possible to submit a bid in the solicitation of offers as part of a PtX subsidy scheme for the production of PtX in Denmark (the PtX Tender). As the contracting authority, DEA is tendering a total of 1.25 billion DKK worth of subsidies. The deadline for bidding is Friday, September 1, 2023.
On March 15, 2022, the government (Socialdemokratiet), Venstre, Socialistisk Folkeparti, Radikale Venstre, Enhedslisten, Det Konservative Folkeparti, Dansk Folkeparti, Liberal Alliance, and Alternativet entered into a political agreement on development and promotion of hydrogen and green fuels (the PtX Agreement).
The coalition agreed to tender 1.25 billion DKK worth of subsidies in support ofproduction of PtX in Denmark. The PtX Tender is now entering into the tendering phase, and the Danish Energy Agency invites tenderers to submit their bids.
Five overarching measures relating to Power-to-X
The PtX Agreement introduces five overarching measures for the deployment of production and utilization of PtX in Denmark. The measures involve:
1) Denmark to target 4-6 GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030.
2) Dedicate 1.25 billion DKK to support ofproduction of PtX in Denmark
3) Enable direct lines, geographically differentiated tariffs, and local collective tariff structures.
4) Enabling the build-out of infrastructure for hydrogen in Denmark.
5) Appointment of a PtX Taskforce to support developing a market for hydrogen and infrastructure for hydrogen in Denmark.
The PtX Taskforce has been appointed, and the PtX Tender is now soliciting bids.
September 1, 2023, deadline for submitting bids for the PtX Tender
It is now possible to submit a bid in the solicitation of offers as part of the PtX Tender in support ofproduction of PtX in Denmark.
The deadline for submitting a bid is September 1, 2023, at noon (12 pm). All of the tender material, as well as questions received and answers provided during the tendering phase, will be published on the tender portal which can be found at the DEA website.
Questions pertaining to the PtX Tender and the tender material must be submitted via the portal by Friday, August 18, 2023.

The Danish subsoil is particularly well suited for carbon storage, and this can help prevent global warming. The Danish Energy Agency has recommended that the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities grant three licenses to explore the Danish onshore subsoil for carbon storage potentials. If further investigations confirm that the subsoil is suitable for safe onshore carbon storage, as expected, the licensees can later apply for a license to commence storage.
