Media lessons from the war: Ukrainian and Danish perspectives
17.3.2023 07:00:00 CET | Ukraine House in Denmark | Press release

Since February 2022, Ukraine has become the leading subject of the media headlines globally. As the world watched the largest humanitarian catastrophe since the Second World War develop on European soil, it quickly became apparent that there were many knowledge gaps in the global perception of Ukraine. To learn about the obstacles of contemporary war reporting and the key takeaways from the past year, the discussion will be centered around the following questions:
- What are the challenges faced by journalists from around the world while reporting on Russia’s war against Ukraine?
- What are some of the lessons learned by Ukrainian journalists since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine? What are the lessons learned by the international press?
- What is lacking in the global news coverage, and how has it changed nine years after the start of the war?
Our panelists:
Sevgil Musaieva - editor-in-chief of Ukrainian online media Ukrainska Pravda, a laureate of the International Press Freedom Awards from the Committee to Protect Journalists. Named in TIME’s list of 100 most influential people of 2022.
Charlotte Harder is the head of communications and press at the Danish Union of Journalists. Previously Charlotte has worked in management positions within the largest Danish media organizations, such as Danish Radio, where she led the news and foreign affairs departments.
The discussion will be moderated by Nataliya Popovych, chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark, co-founder of Ukraine Crisis Media Center and Resilient Ukraine, and an expert in international communications.
When: March 20 at 16.00
