Systagenix Leading the Way in Wound Assessment and Wound Diagnosis

SYSTAGENIX

Systagenix , the home of the Let’s Heal® system, attended the 2011 European Wound Management Association conference (EWMA) in Belgium and introduced the WOUNDCHEK™ brand; the umbrella brand name of its soon to be launched point of care tests, to an international audience of over 2,500 clinicians. The conference also saw the publication of the International Consensus on “The Role of Proteases in Wound Diagnostics ”, published by Wounds International , and a symposium on “Wound Assessment and Diagnosis”, attended by almost 500 attendees.

The symposium, the biggest of a series of similar international sessions already run in Europe, US, Canada, and South Africa during the last year, was hosted by Professor Keith Harding, Dr. Thomas Serena and Professor Gary Sibbald, and provided an up to date view for many as to how better detection and understanding of the role of protease activity could become a significantly positive adjunct to today’s clinical practice.

The timely publication of the international consensus on “Diagnostics” further highlighted the importance for better detection and monitoring of proteases to aid correct diagnosis and choice of therapy. The consensus describes the opinion of an international expert working group chaired by Professor Keith Harding and highlighted how “effective use of a protease test kit at the point-of-care has the potential to change wound care globally.”

Paolo Di Vincenzo, Systagenix Vice President of Global Marketing, said: "With Systagenix leading the way in wound diagnostics, EWMA 2011 delivered a unique opportunity to connect with thousands of clinicians, and once again provide a platform to raise awareness and education on the importance and the role of proteases in wound care. With over 30 million people in the world with chronic wounds every year, innovation in wound diagnostics has been long overdue.

“Since first announcing our efforts in wound diagnostics during last year’s congress, we have received a huge amount of interest from clinicians globally, who appreciate the impact that a product like WOUNDCHEK™ could have to their daily practice. This has been reflected by the timely publication of the latest international consensus document and by the appearance of wound diagnostics as a topic in several professional conferences since. Once available, WOUNDCHEK™ will be a significant addition to our ever evolving Let’s Heal® system, joining established brands like TIELLE®, ADAPTIC TOUCH®, SILVERCEL® NON-ADHERENT, and PROMOGRAN® which continue to be the preferred choice for thousands of clinicians around the world to help patients with complex wounds heal every day .”

Home of the Let’s Heal® system, and focused 100% in wound care, Systagenix is a leading global supplier of advanced wound care solutions. Formed via the acquisition of Johnson & Johnson’s professional wound care business in 2008, the company supplies over 20 million wound dressings per month into over 100 countries worldwide for use in treating hard-to-heal acute and chronic wounds.
