Sonoco-Alcore Showcases Complete Tube and Core Offering at Eurasia 2011
Sonoco-Alcore, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sonoco (NYSE: SON), one of the leading diversified global packaging companies, will exhibit its complete range of tube and core products at the Eurasia Packaging Fair, September 15 - 18, 2011. Held in Istanbul, Eurasia brings together various facets of the packaging industry, including packaging production and processes, packaging materials, recovery and recycling technologies, and packaging logistics and transport. Sonoco-Alcore will showcase a variety of tubes and cores for the packaging film, paper, textiles and specialty industries, including new products.
Innovative Film Core Solutions
Within the agricultural film segment, Sonoco-Alcore has worked closely with silage film producers to develop DriCore™, a recyclable, high-performance, water-resistant paper core that can be stored outside for up to 20 days without sacrificing core strength or stability. In addition to the DriCore paper core, a number of high-performance and packaging film cores will also be on display throughout the exhibition.
Understanding Customer Needs
One of the new products that will be featured is Printex®, which was designed specifically to meet the changing demands of yarn producers, who increasingly require carriers in smaller quantities and with increased colour variations, at a lower price, without any loss of performance. In the past, printing on yarn carriers was extremely challenging; ink on cores would often bleed into the yarn, damaging the yarn and making it unusable. The Printex carrier has successfully resolved this issue, and is available in numerous colour variations, aiding in yarn recognition. A full range of textile yarn carriers will also be displayed.
Paper Mill Core Technology
Within the paper mill segment, a number of industry-changing products will be on display, including the revolutionary M-Core™ series. M-Core paper mill cores were developed using Sonoco-Alcore’s patented wide-ply technology to deliver a core that can easily handle the printing industry’s unprecedented winding speeds and reel widths. Our popular Intellicore™ paper mill cores, which use RFID technology to track paper roll inventory from initial production all the way through to consumption, will also be displayed. Many other paper mill cores, including our SR-350 and VR-500 reusable tissue cores will also be showcased during Eurasia.
Market Leading Transport Packaging
The Firmaload® bulk bag carrier is an environmentally friendly paperboard product that is used in the FIBC industry as a more efficient and effective means of transporting big bags. FirmaLoad carriers save on cost, space and freight compared to wooden pallets, are manufactured in a range of standard sizes and can also be produced in custom sizes to meet customer needs across the globe.
“Sonoco-Alcore is a market leader in Turkey,” said European Sales Director Karsten Kemmerling. “Eurasia gives us a platform to demonstrate our commitment to our customers in Turkey, and share our products and capabilities with potential customers in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asian countries.”
