Sisvel S.p.A. announced today that Funke Digital TV Guide GmbH has entrusted it with its Recommendation Engine technology patents. This portfolio (which includes more than 120 patents) aggregates patented technologies used in products and services ranging from digital content distribution services (services for the distribution of digital multimedia content over broadcast and/or broadband network) to e-commerce and social networking platforms.
Funke Digital TV Guide GmbH , a division of Funke MEDIENGRUPPE , a German major media house, provides advanced technology solutions for content navigation and discovery. They help viewers find videos they like in an ever-expanding universe of content.
Sisvel has already acquired a significant portfolio of patents in the Recommendation Engine technology space. These patents are the result of pioneering research activities in the field of content recommendation and personalization. Further and, in particular, key technologies that were developed during these research activities include: Content and EPGs Customization, Virtual Channels, User Profiling, Preference Collection and Prediction. Building on the results of these pioneering research activities and others, Funke Digital has further enriched the field with major advancements in new areas such as Targeted Advertisement, Content Discovery and Metadata Preprocessing.
The patents and patent applications cover technologies used in a wide range of devices and services inter alia - the field of collaborative filtering.
