Ukraine House in Denmark will launch its Christmas program with the opening of the spectacular exhibition Malanka: the Dance of Death and Life. The exhibition explores the vibrant Malanka carnival, an ancient New Year’s Eve celebration with roots in Slavic mythology and agrarian customs, and its contemporary portrayal in the critically acclaimed Ukrainian film Pamfir (2022), by Dmytro Sykholytkyy-Sobchuk, produced by Oleksandra Kostina & Jane Yatsuta (Bosonfilm). Featuring more than 30 costumes and over 80 masks from the film, as well as film props, sketches, storyboards, photographs and video footage, the exhibition will immerse audiences in the colorful and symbolic world of Malanka, which is traditionally celebrated with elaborate costumed processions, dancing and singing. The Ukraine House in Denmark is proud to present a captivating performance by Pyrih i Batih, a musical project that breathes new life into Ukrainian poetry. On August 23, 2024, as part of the celebration marking the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's restored independence, Pyrih i Batih will provide a live musical accompaniment to Olexandr Dovzhenko's classic silent film "The Earth" (1930). The event is taking place as part of the opening of the “Heart of the Earth” exhibition. The event will take place at Vor Frelsers Kirke, Sankt Annæ Gade 29, Copenhagen, starting at 17:00.

Den længe ventede “Heart of Earth”-udstilling, et af Ukraines mest betydningsfulde kulturprojekter fra krigens tid, vil åbne i Ukraine House in Denmark i København den 23. august i forbindelse med fejringen af det 33. år for Ukraines uafhængighed. Udstillingen er kurateret af det anerkendte Mystetskyi Arsenal (Kyiv, Ukraine) og indeholder 17 ukrainske kunstneres refleksioner over deres nations dybt rodfæstede forbindelse til deres land og jord. Gennem deres værker udforsker kunstnerne deres hjemsted, som er et afgørende kornkammer for hele kontinenter på grund af den livsvigtige mad, det producerer. Udstillingen viser og formidler, hvordan mad, ligesom gas og olie, stammer fra jorden og kan bruges som et stærkt våben.
