Twenty years on, biodiversity struggles to take root in restored wetlands11.2.2025 11:00:10 CET | Københavns Universitet - Det Natur- og Biovidenskabelige Fakultet | Press release

While the restoration of natural areas is high on political agendas, a comprehensive new study from the University of Copenhagen shows that – after more than two decades – biodiversity growth has stalled in restored Danish wetlands. The results also suggest that time alone will not heal things because the areas are too small and dry, and nitrogen inputs from agriculture continue. According to the researchers, we need to learn from the past.

KRONE INVESTS IN ACOUSTICS SPECIALIST RECALM24.1.2024 14:32:13 CET | recalm GmbH | Press release

Maschinenfabrik KRONE and technology company recalm, which specialises in acoustic solutions, have entered into a strategic partnership to improve health and comfort and reduce dangerous noise in the driver's cab. KRONE has also invested in recalm via Silver Crown Capital. Thanks to recalm's unique Active Noise Cancelling technology called ANCOR, a significant reduction in noise levels and a completely new dimension of entertainment, communication and comfort in the driver's cab will be possible in the future. The retrofittable ANCOR system is installed on the headrest and works with several microphones and speakers. The microphones record the existing ambient noise, while the speakers emit sound signals in anti-phase. As a result, the sound waves cancel each other out and low-frequency, disturbing sounds are suppressed. What's special: ANCOR works in the free field, i.e. without headphones, and creates a "quiet zone" of 20 to 30 centimeters in diameter around the driver's head, in whi

Fungal evolution discovered: Mycena can now invade living hosts23.10.2023 11:13:05 CEST | Københavns Universitet - Det Natur- og Biovidenskabelige Fakultet | Press release

Biologists have long known mushrooms of the genus Mycena, commonly known as bonnet mushrooms, as fungi that live off of dead trees and plants. New research from the University of Copenhagen demonstrates that bonnets can also find their ways into young, healthy trees and plants, where they try to cooperate. In doing so, they have made an evolutionary leap which challenges our understanding of the ecological roles of fungi.

Krombach/Wacken - The Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) 2023 will remain unforgotten in many respects. Among them: A new world record. World record in Wacken 110,3 decibels - never before has anyone growled louder than the visitors of this year's Wacken Open Air. Together with the Growling Creatures, the metal fans set a new world record. On the opening day of the festival, the animal metal band presented by Krombacher called for record-breaking voices for the protection of endangered native species. The metalheads impressively showed that they gi

What the heck are pulses? European unawareness stands in the way of this “green” superfood18.1.2023 16:36:04 CET | Københavns Universitet - Det Natur- og Biovidenskabelige Fakultet | Press release

European consumption of pulses doesn’t stack up against national dietary recommendations – with Denmark in last place. According to the researchers, the low consumption is mainly due to a lack of awareness and tradition.
